He looked off early.
I told my wife the B’s would win because the le4fs goalie wasn’t going to win it for them.
Really impressed by Marner though. - golfingsince
Marner was very good/great.
Gardiner was awful
Fredtrick was shaky
Matthews was mediocre |

I don’t think you win it with just a 1-2 punch anymore, at least not in the east. Depth is key.
Bozak and JVR will walk, need something to fill in that 3rd line threat. - Feeling Glucky?
Matthews
Tavares
Kadri
That's a cup contending Center group, id sign Bozie. He can play wing and center.
You have to take Babs way of thinking when thinking what the leafs will do this offseason.
He likes a strong C group more than D group, and he likes to have wingers that can play Center. |

I agree but I’ve also read babcock saying gardiner has the highest hockey iq on the team.
Take it for what it worth. - bryant
Check the date when he said that - April 1st. Just saying.

Double edge sword. He was the reason they got to game 7 and a big part of why they lost game 7.
You can make all the diving stick saves you want, the softies can't go in when it matters.
But I think the problem is just fatigue. Nobody faced more shots than he did this season. The Leafs need to give up fewer shots and they need a back-up who can play 25-30 games. - Unholy_Goalie

Maybe eventually, but not immediately, it's not a guarantee. It's like saying Kapanen can replace JVR. Yeah, maybe eventually but anybody expecting him to score 36 goals next year? I wouldn't.
And then you need to replace Dermott lower on the depth chart too. - Unholy_Goalie
I'm a believer management will hand those spots to more kids and I expect a fight for the playoffs next year. It'll be better long term though. |

Your team just lost by allowing 7 goals and you want to spend cap space up front ? |

Willie is not made for PO grinding. His game was all perimeter to be nice. Ineffective. |

I said it awhile ago, but if Tavares signs with the leafs he solves a few problems.
He slides kadri to 3C, and is able to fill jvr and bozak points all on his own. You throw a rookie on his wing (Johnsson, kapanen) and that makes up the salary difference.
It would a matchup hell for other teams having to face Matthews/Tavares kadri.

I think Tavares is really possible.
We are Leaf fans.....so we don't want to be homers and say it's possible.
In reality, he hasn't signed with NYI yet, and quite frankly I don't blame him.
TOR is a top option |

I want to role three strong lines, Cs are important. I'd take pageau as a winger that can slide into the C position for an injury. - Santo_44
Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Marleau-?-Marner
Johnsson-Kadri-Kapanen
Leivo/Grundstrom-?-Brown
Is how I see it.
Obviously if they can get Tavares, he’s that 2C.
4C can be Aaltonen or GOAT, or Plek/Bozak if they come back cheap. |

You won't get this with Gardiner though. Defense needs to be upgraded if Andersen is to face fewer shots. Gardiner is high risk/high reward type of D-man. Which we don't really need imo. |

Yup, Tavares is a star. Adding him gives the Leafs the best Center group in the NHL. |

Yup.
Bad bounces and terrible goaltending.
When it all mixes together it looks like poop. At the end of the day goals win you games and you need to sustain more pressure in the offensive zone instead of getting killed in puck possession in your own zone.
