"4. Buffalo Sabres: Just an entire city full of sports fans wandering around, confused, asking each other to explain the concept of actually winning something."
Im not including the young guys who are question marks, wonder how many new guys are signed this summer
- mrn22
To start I think you only have 4 Defensemen that you can say will be on the roster next year:
Shatty, Skjei, Pionk, Staal (everyone else to me isn't guaranteed anything)
Then 2 goalies: Hank and Georgiev or someone they sign and let Georgiev play the full season in Hartford
Then you have a ton of RFAs at Forward and possible trades at the draft + Picks.. so god only knows up front - MiloslavHorava
I had just replied to your question to me on the prior blog, as to why I would bring Grabner back if the price fits into their cap plans more respectively than first assumed, based on his play with the Devils being sub par for whatever the reason there.
I see that you list him here now as a "maybe" to be re-signed, as opposed to appearing to be more so against it based on your reply to my comment of bringing him back on that prior blog.
Note Jan, that you omitted mentioning that very brave and courageous hero in Brian Boyle of the Devils, as one ex-Ranger who had played during this entire regular & postseason, after hopefully overcoming for good, his battle with cancer last off season.
That's two teams with youth who had acquired Boyle's veteran leadership and his specialty roles services in the past two seasons, with the Leafs doing so at last season's trade deadline to help lead them down that stretch both to, and as far as they reached last postseason.
That's a similar reason why I would bring back Grabner if available at the right lower than originally expected price, for a Rangers team becoming younger, who will need that gaping hole filled, which was missing the final 1/4 of last season, on top of his veteran experience, great speed, and more.

Nobody does it quite like you, Saver. Don't think I've ever seen this kind of raping of the reader before...
Noooooo....another blog that will turn into a Miller slobber fest.....
Before that begins....please remind yourselves that he is playing with the two best linemates in the NHL! - rrentz
... and under a coach that allows him to remain consistently on that same line with his style of play, even if it puts the team on the penalty kill slightly more than they would like to be.
every single time Nash comes back from a concussion, he becomes a perimeter player who gets a lot of shots on net and that's about it
don't want him back, he's damaged goods, too many concussions for me - jimbo83
The main reason for right now to ever think of re-signing Nash is for some leadership. But the overall price has to be much greater realistic than it was on his first contract, given both his concussion history, and his career disappointing offensive production in the postseason, especially goal scoring wise.
At this point of his career, he is much more so a defensive forward & specialty roles player than a goal scorer, & should only be paid in that means, no matter how much he and his family love life in New York. Unless his offensive production picks up significantly should the Bruins make a long run, Nash's F,A. value if hitting the open market, will be only very little higher than that of Grabner's should he do so as well.

You argument for resigning Grabner is that the Devils signed Brian Boyle as a free agent and he helped them make the playoffs (He had 13G and 10A)? I'm pretty sure it was ummm Taylor Hall that put them over the hump

Thanks, fixed, not on purpose, brain cramp as reading depth charts to make sure I didn't miss anyone and did. I never wanted Bribrows22 to leave. He got a great offer and headed to Tampa. Always wonder if he had in NY in 2015 if they would have beaten the Lightning in the ECF.

I thought it was Adam Larsons stellar defensive effort that got them into the playoffs

One or any combo relation of up to 3 players in 2015 would have likely gotten them past Tampa & back to the Finals, despite struggling scoring at home that series in being shutout in 2 of 4 games at MSG, including 2-0 in Game 7.
(1) I agree that had Brian Boyle been re-signed that season, they would have beaten Tampa with him still here instead of contributing defensively with them.
(2) Playing without Zucc. hurt alone, due to his suspected concussion suffered in the 1st Round 5 games series win vs. Pittsburgh, the LAST playoff series the Penguins have lost, in winning their last 9 straight ones to date.
(3) In addition, as Boyle did, Anton Stralman was also allowed to walk away free to Tampa, along with some additional recruiting aid by Ryan Callahan that summer prior to the 2014/15 regular season.
Both players departed due in part to A.V.'s say. A.V. wouldn't give Brian Boyle a "bigger playing role with additional ice time" he wanted. Also, prior to that season, A.V. & Sather both felt they needed greater proven experience on defense to run the power play. So U.F.A., Dan Boyle was signed instead of re-inking Stralman for the same annual $4.5M per season. They left Anton in limbo to do as he stated back then was, "what was right for him and his family, since he could not wait any longer for any new contract offer".
Kingston lives to see another day. The Frontenacs beat Hamilton 5-2. Sean Day scores a goal and finishes with 3 points. The Bulldogs still lead the series 3-1. #OHLPlayoffs

Need some depth on the right side. Left side is packed with bodies. Skjei, Smith, Staal, Rykov, Lindgren, Hajek, O'Gara, Gilmour and Day. And soon to be Dahlin, of course.

We only need 6 defensmen and we have almost 15 to choose from, I think we're in a good place prospect wise which never made me believe the Voynov story, eventually one or two or three of these guy will be trade chips
