But i do have to say for the guys the Rangers weren't going to resign, or rentals, when you look back at it, they walked away with a heck of a payload.

They traded guys that were about to become UFAs in Nash, Grabs and Holden, plus a guy they weren't going to resign to a long term deal anyway(McD) and well one mistake lol in Miller and walked away with a haul of prospects and picks. all for a bunch of guys that had 18-20 games left to play

The one thing I didn't understand, although it's not a huge deal, was why Gorton wouldn't trade Desharnais for whatever anyone was willing to give for a UFA they had no need for and no intention of resigning?

last year's deadline he was traded for Brandon Davidson. That's worse than nothing.
