Indeed.
Jack Eichel being given food poisoning intentionally is ridiculous though, just so we're clear. - TheMussel
If you sawed it enough you could intentionally break it with enough downward hand pressure after someone takes a slash at it... |

Our Singer is one of the best in the league.
I also use to like the skinny military guy. Wasn't the best singer, but lots of passion! And he would do the salute at the end... - Hockey_Reverend
the bolded is most important.
i don't care about 'how well' she sings. (although i do think she rapes the national anthems).
It's about getting team and crowd ready for the game.
Arguably René Rancourt is better at doing that than the 15y old Leafs anthem singer. |

Martina is still a teenager, and therefore probably lacks some of the singing experience of, say, Christina Aguillera at this point, but keeps it consistent, does it live every time, and never misses note.

oh those are fantastic. People can get mad at the refs all they want, they've made some bad calls in every series I've seen so far, but the team has to actually show up if you're going to blame losses on them. Leafs have put some good minutes in but I wouldn't say that they've played a complete game yet. Andersen kept them in for the two W's. If he's nothing short of spectacular then it's over in 4, hopefully he's on tonight. - mgriffen
Regardless of the refereeing, the Leafs have not been good enough. If Matthews and Nylander actually showed up, then I believe the Leafs are as good as the Bruins.
The way this series has gone, the Bruins have been the better team more often than not... and then the penalty discrepancy on top of that.

Really?
I think Rancourt is awful. He sings the songs way to slow... and just becuase the crowd cheers doesn't mean anything. If some old guy is a fool, wouldn't you cheer?

As long as it works...
If they have Wendell Clark singing the national anthem, I'm sure it will have a more positive impact on the team and crowd than this girl singing.. and sure Wendell doesn't sing nearly as well as the girl. |

It's a (frank)ing anthem
90% of people skip it anyways, it isn't there to pump up the crowd it is there to celebrate our respective countries.
As long as the singer isn't tone deaf it is fine |

I'm just puzzled why the Leafs have settled on her as the only anthem singer.
I don't think she's that great. She's not bad, but is she really the one and only?

Exactly, that Bruins singer is a running joke. It isn't a good thing.

I can understand switching it up occasionally, but I think it's part of the whole Shanaplan renewal strategy of everything surrounding the team.
Maybe Martina is the anthem singer who is going to 'grow' with the team as the years go by. |

I personally try not to blame reffing because if you score 9 goals in the first it's really hard for the refs to give the other team 10 goals. On the same thought process, if you played a bad game and it comes down to one call in the 3rd period, well maybe you should have worked a little harder so it didn't come down to that play.
Anyway, refs are human and they will make mistakes. My issue is it's not talked about what punishment they receive or do they have to answer for their poopty calls/decisions. I don't think they need to answer to the media but it would be great if they publically told us what repercussions there are. Just a list of things like "gave a wrong penalty, $1,000 fine".
In addition, I wish refs would stop doing make up calls to make up for their mistake. If they didn't get to do that then maybe they'd learn to be better instead of just saying "I can give a make up call to that team to make myself feel better." No, own up to your mistake and deal with it. |
