I love what Jordan Peterson said about him. Something to the effect of 'you don't even need Justin, what's the point? He is just a walking ideology. The ideology makes all the decisions while Justin smiles and runs his fingers through his hair...' - Hockey_Reverend
Peterson would be the best PM Canada has ever seen.
Love that guy! |

Not a place for a political debate. I'll just throw this out there that Harper was a disgrace. As are just about every politician out there. Have you seen the Ontario candidates for Premiere? Ford and Wynne? Nobody Ontarian wins that poopshow. |

Can’t see it happening unless he’s a huge Leafs fan at heart and wants to see a cup in the city. He has his cups. Why not just relax on the beaches with his 10 mil salary ? - QuickSCF
Shut up you and your ocean beaches.
But just so you know..
Ontario has many amazing beaches on amazing lakes.
Just.
No oceans....and hot weather all year round |

Its a wash. - Fakepartofme
I respectfully disagree.
I’m not saying Andersen is bad in any way. I think he’s a fine goalie. I, ill admit as a Bruins fan, take Rask. |

I think the idea of trading Nylander is dumb personally... but as for possibilities of guys who could be potentially available:
1) St. Louis will be making some changes one would think - Edmundson and Paryako would be targets - obviously expensive
2) Winnipeg may have contract / CAP issues - so they may look to part with a large contract
3) Carolina would seem to need offensive help...
I think the problem the Leafs have is they really only have one top 2 defender. Then they have a handful of guys who are 4-5 guys. - BorjeFan4Ever
Honestly Parayako is slowly becoming their best defenseman, he's essentially untouchable. There is just no scenario it makes sense to move him. |

Their was an assumption that the goaltending was a wash and I really disagreed. I truly feel that he was the difference in that game. - RickJames77

I really don't think he is, he has 17 shots through 4 games, next closest on the team is 11.
He's leading shot getter on both teams by a comfortable margin. I think the fact that he is only 20 is part of the reason. He shouldn't have to do the explanation interview after this gong show.
Give him a 'A' and let him lead on the ice and concentrate on being a dominant force out there. Imagine every time he goes 5 games without a goal the media crap. - Blazed
Hyman [C]
Marner [A]
Rielly [A]
Best player on your team doesn't necessarily need to be a C or A. |

Andersen hasn't impressed me any more than Matthews.
But you can't say that.

He has done zero to warrant the captaincy. Hyman has more (same?) points this series.
That doesn't make Hyman a better player, but where the F is Matthews while the team can't score. - Aetherial
He's hurt. Other players on non-playoff teams had similar injuries and they got shut down for the season and needed surgery. He's not been great but he's not 100% either. Players are good at hiding it, just ask Bergeron. |

Absolutely not. Nobody should get it until one of them proves they deserve it beyond a doubt. The last thing they need is more pressure for no reason. - Unholy_Goalie
After this series and hearing his post game interviews I think Rielly is ready. Dmen can go without points and not have to answer for it like forwards too so the C might be a better fit. |

I would take Rask as well - he's the better goalie by quite a margin.
And he doesn't choke in playoffs normally - that seems quite important |

With roughly 20 games left in the season, I said Andersen was at high risk to be poop in the playoffs because he had been forced to face too many shots during the season. But of course, I was crazy.
4.12 GAA, .880 SV%. Literally, worse than Bernier. - Unholy_Goalie
I don't think fatigue has any part of it. The whole team is poop right now. It is what it is. |

I'm not a corsi guy but he's leading both teams in shots, his defensive play is good, he's been responsible with the puck.

I assume the Leafs will get Tavares....but you offense is already good enough....they need to invest on D. As Tanev has an excellent contract for two more years.... He is the guy. Doughty is too expensive in light of Taveras |

this is not true.
I agree it's not fatigue though.
Andersen isn't a top goalie to start with, and seems he can't handle the playoff pressure |

Teams that might consider a trade for a first line D for Nylander:
- Nashville (if they lose vs. Winnipeg - scoring being main problem) - MaximusAurelius[PK, Josi]
- Arizona [OEL]
- Carolina [pick your d-man from Hanifin, Slavin, Fleury]
- LA [Doughty]
- Ottawa [Karlsson]
- Anaheim [Lindholm]
- St Louis [Pietrangelo]
- Calgary [Hamilton]
- maybe even Columbus [Jones/Werenski]
seems there are quite a bit of options there.
not all of them are Norris level, but still solid additions for Leafs.
in any case I don't see the Leafs' D being the biggest issue long term.
Dermott, Rielly, Liljegren is 3/4th of your top4.
Nielsen, Borgman, Zaitsev can play bottom pair.
in my view, it's contingent on potential choice between spending 9mln on Tavares vs 6.5mln on Nylander.
I personally think Leafs will only trade Nylander for D if they sign Tavares.
6.5 for Nylander? what are you smoking?
Thats Pastrnak money and he's in a different league.
Nylander's a 4.5 to 5mil guy for what he does during the season. If he didnt play with Matthews he might be worth even less. |

It absolutely does play a part in it because he looks terrible in net. He's let in one poop goal every game. Even the one game that he made those two huge saves, he let in two terrible goals. He's sleeping at the wheel. If he's not physically tired, he's mentally exhausted. Or he's hurt. But this isn't the January Andersen, this is October Andersen and in the playoffs, every single play matters. One free goal per game definitely matters. |
