Don't have to dump it when you have the speed, skill and passing to carry it in and blow by the D if they stand too far up the line. The Leafs simply don't have the tools to play dump and chase and sustain that pressure successfully.

Yes, load up one line. The Leafs have the benefit of last change and can throw our three best forwards at their weakest pairing at will.

Keep JVR off the ice until the PP, use Hyman, Moore and Brown to try and shutdown the Bergeron line the best you can, throw Bozak out there against Krejci and use the Matthews line against the Bruins 3rd and 4th lines as often as possible.

In theory 1 extra skilled guy on the line will make the likelihood of skating it through the neutral zone more likely but they will still have to dump and chase. It's not the D they have to blow by, it's the Bruins forwards completely closing off routes through the neutral zone.

In theory 1 extra skilled guy on the line will make the likelihood of skating it through the neutral zone more likely but they will still have to dump and chase. It's not the D they have to blow by the Bruins forwards completely closing off routes through the neutral zone.

Right, you act as if they are not trying to skate it in. Most times dump and chase is your last option before a turnover. You bring it through the neutral zone, your outlets are covered and it's 1 on 1 with a Dman with side pressure from a backchecking forward.

Options are pretty limited at that point, which is why every single team in the league dumps and chases.

I'll bet my house that Kovalchuk is a hab next october.
