Simmonds is a net front presence guy. If the puck isn’t getting there then he is nullified. NOPA at least has puck skills
And can make plays from behind the net.

And it's not like Nolan is fanning on pucks down low either.

Save for all of Jake's penalties Simmonds has no question been the worst player on the ice. Idk how anyone can be advocating for giving him more ice time right now.

All I know is Konecny opened up a lot of space for Giroux and Couturier with his speed when they played together. Raffl slows those two down. I get Hakstol trying to spread the depth but when Simmonds and Filppula are pretty useless offensively I'd rather load up my top 2 lines and hope the bottom two lines play sound defence. We can agree to disagree but that's just what I think.

I'll reiterate what I said in my previous reply. I don't think the suggestion of putting Konecny back with Giroux is a bad one. What I objected to is your comments that you had no idea why the move was made like it was a crazy move made by the coach which you will never understand.

Here is a simple fact of the game. The Flyers showed especially early in the game how vulnerable the Pens are in 5 on 5 play defensively. The Flyers had numerous chances in the game especially early. They didn't score but they should have kept pushing. Instead due to bonehead and stupid plays led by two leaders in Girou x and Voracek, they turned the game into a PP game and gave Malkin, Crosby, Kessel and Co. 8-9 minutes in PP ice time. Mix in the Flyers PK and it's not exactly a winning formula. What made it worse was that the Flyers stars had equal PP time and did squat.

I understand the move I worded it badly, I don't like the move is what I should have said.

Agree. He’s been a black hole with the puck when he does get it too. Deserved less ice time, if anything.

I’m with the idea of putting TK back on that line next game.

My point being that NOPA has more puck skills so with the puck down low I can understand him being the net front presence when he can also play behind the net.

Hell, at this point why not come out with something totally different if very little is working.

Pretty much. They really need to clean this up. I was counting on them not taking penalties, like they did much of the season.

Talking Hart form. Has he brought his regular season form into the playoffs?

Someone should ask him if he thought Sid cheated on the faceoff that led to Dumos goal. The Sharks would Be crying something.

No way would I split up Giroux and Couturier. Filppula has to remain at center in my opinion. Laughton has not ouplayed him in this series.

I wish , if I know Hakstol and I think we all do at this point I doubt any changes are made and they go with the exact same lineup.

I watched him closely during Game 2 -- literally watched it again just to watch his shifts, Manning's, Sanheim's.

That was why I said what I said earlier: I truly think he is hurt. I really do

He is definitely hurt, if he isn't this is probably the fastest regression of a player I've seen in a long time. He does not look anything close to the Simmonds of previous seasons.

Yeah, I don't doubt that he is hurt. Apparently in one the recent post games he insisted that he wasn't. Regardless he shouldn't be out on the ice right now. It sucks but you have to look at the facts and plan accordingly. Weal would be adding something to this team right now. No part of Simmonds game has been adequate lately.
