Play some of the younger players and get rid of those old place holders.
- manvanfan

There is some merit to that.

There is also merit to not playing guys you know aren't ready.

Hell, it is pretty clear even our young players who are "ready" to be in the NHL are not ready to face this Bruins squad whose nucleus is much more experienced, and they have good young pieces.

The Leafs organization has a history of throwing young guys to the wolves, shattering their confidence, ruining their development, then throwing them away. They have maintained all along that the organization is going to be about developing players.

... and our most important veteran player, easily our most valuable veteran player, isn't there because he made a dumbass decision.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and as of just 2 short years ago we had not much in the system and a last-place team and were capped-out.

Even 4 straight losses leaves us still ahead of where anyone could have reasonably predicted when this all started.

Relax, guys.

This is all just part of Lou and Shanny’s plan to sign 34, 29 and 16 for a combined $16M AAV.

Seriously, you know me well enough to know when I’m here to talk a bit about about Hockey and when I’m straight up trolling. A few jabs here and there is just how Men talk. I come in Peace and this guy wants to antagonize me? Is that any way to treat guests?

I have no desire or intentions to learn about your personal life, lets just leave it at that if we can.
- Blazed

Are you special needs? YOU criticize someone for not watching a game and don't have anything but this comment when the response clearly shows you what an aszhat you are?

Go away junior.

You jab at me I jab back. I question your opinion of said game when you don't watch it obviously. Sorry but I genuinely didn't expect a page long personal story in response.

Special needs, nice touch.

It was my first thought too unfortunately.

No, it equates to you guys getting Bruined the same way the Canucks did.

And that wont change in this series until the Leafs can prove it. Not saying they cant. But yeah. You're teams getting bytch slapped around.

Boom.

Science.

- vancity787

Our veterans are not our best players, except Kadri and he is gone. You could argue JVR but I have always maintained we will not miss him, even a little bit. He has shown everyone exactly why.

Our young guys are just that, too young to deal with expectations that they didnt have last year and Boston would be waxing last years Capitals the exact same way.

Our goaltender needs to learn to stay calm, confident and composed. When he does that, like most of the year, he has been fantastic. When he tries too hard, I think it totally backfires on him. He is trying too hard because he believes he needs to win the series for this team.

... which all equals a team that is still in the middle of a rebuild and is not ready to compete for a cup yet.

Now, back to real important talk.

Would $1 million be better spent on mollies and coke or hookers and scratch off lottery tickets?

I think what happened with the Leafs was when the transitioned into a speedy skilled team they sorta overdid it. So Babs was like hey! We're a fast and skilled team! We'll beat them with our fastness and super skillz!! Until last years playoffs where they got out muscled by a heavier probably more skilled Caps squadron. So what did they do? They added "experience" (notice the quotations there)...

Imo the key to success is you need to have like half your roster who are like 27-32 and don't (frank) around. But that's just my two cents.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

100% agree.

It is clear that if your best players are not your veteran players it is very difficult to win.

The Leafs will round into contenders when their good young players become their veteran guys.

It’s all about the experience at this point. Give it 2-4 more years after this one, build around the core, maybe look at a more fluid coaching style, and you might have a chance to get a cup in between Detroit’s 5 year stretch of winning it.

I think in these days it’d be wise to commend a good dad instead of criticize them, when there are so few.

Highlights can paint a good enough picture.
