Unless your team is putting up 120 point seasons and winning Cups, there will always be something to complain.

Overall this team has overachieved this season mainly due to the stellar play of the Captain with a big assist to Provy, Ghost, Coots, Jake, TK and Patrick.

While I don’t agree with every move Hakstol makes and I’m still not sure if he is a guy that can coach a team to a Cup, he still deserves recognition for a job well done this season. Getting a bubble team that lacks depth and lost both regular goalies to injury down the stretch into the playoffs is no small accomplishment. Kudos to you, Sir.

And let’s give some credit to the GM. His plan is working and this team is only going to get better over the next few years. Has he mistakes? Of course, all GM’s do. But his mistakes are far outweighed by the job he and his scouts are doing to position this team to be a contender for a long time.

The complaining is louder than the compliments. There will always be differences of opinions but there would be no hockeybuzz message boards for conversations if there was simply one opinion and one view.

Maybe I'm wired differently but I can dislike someone and still respect them. In fact his name is Aaron Rogers.

Anything that comes next is your choice of side source for your wings.

I really liked the look of the second PP unit. I'm hoping Hakstol works with that from here on out and absolutely does not break them up (with exception of Simmonds for Patrick).

I don't usually dance the Hakstol dance but I'll tango one time.

I am not in agreement with everything he does. I don't like the ice time he gives the slugs regardless of "if they've been playing better of late" or not. He loves Lehtera and Filppula too much. It's just the bottom line. The Gudas-Manning pair is and has been bad for a long time. It's just the bottom line.

However, I have confidence in him as a hockey coach. Once the team moves on from Filppula, Lehtera, Manning, Weise, and Gudas- which will happen soon- he'll have a good cast to coach. I like that he's not afraid to juggle players during the game. He's put Simmonds on PP2 and Patrick on PP1. He experimented a lot this year and found things that work. Ghost-Prov, the G-Coots duo, G on the wing. The Jake-Patrick-Lindblom line. There's a lot of pieces to like about the team and a lot of that is due to the coach finding the chemistry there.

My gripe as I've stated is his end game stuff. He likes his old and slow trusty vets, but once those vets a) aren't on the team any more and b) turn into younger, faster players that he trusts more (Lindblom, Patrick, Sanhiem, Ghost) he'll turn to them no problem. Once a player earns his trust they've really earned it.

Point is, I think he can coach this team to a championship and I think he will once they get quicker and their kiddos develop.

Has there ever been a Flyers dman who led the league in goals? Provy in a 3 way tie. Maybe Mark Howe, not sure.

The only other guy I could imagine being in that conversation is maybe Rico. I don't think Pronger notched a ton in his time here but I could be wrong.

Desjardains (sp)? may have been close for a few seasons at his peak, but the closest may have been Pronger in that 09-10 season.

I don't believe that Desjardins ever came close to leading the league in goals scored by a defenseman.

Here is a little know fact about a Flyers defenseman from the past. The much ridiculed Matt Carle led all NHL defenseman in ES scoring one season. As well as leading the entire NHL, all postions, in plus games.

If that is the case, when can we expect Hakstol to be fired? Are the Flyers still not a forward looking organization?

Looks like the Flyers record is 24 by Howe in the 85-86 season. I'm not sure he led the league that year, but that is impressive

Pronger only had 10 in the regular season that year.

Rico had a three year stretch of 15, 14 & 15. Next to Howe and now Provy I can't imagine any other Flyers putting up many more than that.

I just feel like they're wasting the year. Their top 6 and top pair are as good as any in hockey (when Konecny is there). It's such a waste to see them continually throw out subpar depth players. Why not take a shot with some younger guys? They're setting a ceiling with players like Filpulla, MacDonald, Manning and Lehtera and that ceiling isn't the Finals
