You want the Pens playing the Jackets over the Flyers?

Uhh yeah. I need DET to get best lottery odds possible and as improbable as it is I need PHI in the ECF.

One win won’t drastically hurt their chances. There’s more games to lose still.

Regardless of who Philly plays they’re not making it to the ECF.

Well they are on a 3 game win streak so they need to lose out for me to be content.

And yes it is very improbable but I would love another 2nd.

I forget how the lottery odds work. Is it the same probability for seeds 1 - 10?

Oh, I’m not. I’m just hoping.

I’ve pretty much accepted the Pens will be playing the Jackets.

And we all know how that script goes. So I'm cool with it. BJs 1st round, Caps 2nd round. Cup 4th round. Cool.

I just don’t feel as confident about this Pens team as I have in the past, and this CBJ is definitely better than they’ve been.

Last year was the least confident I felt about the Pens heading into the playoffs since 2011 when both heads of the monster were severed.

The Pens didn’t look so hot in the last month of the season last year, but they were “finding a way to win.” This year’s team doesn’t seem to have that.

They went 4-4-2 in the last ten of last season and headed in without Tanger plus Maatta only played the last reg season game after being off for months. Pretty sure Daley wasnt long back from long injury layoff as well.

Wonder what it would take to get tom Wilson to play with Sid. He’s an animal and now has open range on the pens.

Murray has 1 1/2 Stanley Cup runs under his belt. Having Fleury as a backup was a luxury. I don't see many other teams in the playoffs with 2 capable starters. In goal specifically, probably not stronger, but I don't believe Murray/Jarry is that far behind Murray/Fleury. I think the defense is better at generating breakouts than last year and the forward depth is as strong, if not stronger than 2015-16 when healthy, so I don't believe we are going to see the Pens buried in their own zone like we did too often in last year's playoffs, where they had to get bailed out by Fleury for 2 series. I see this Pens team as a trade chances team, much like 2015-16, and I like their chances at coming out on top in a 7 game series, given their forward depth.

I think the forwards are a good group in the context of the way the league runs hockey now days. I never really liked Murray. He was at least steady before, couldn’t win you a game but he was steady. Now he’s neither and will most likely be hurt at some point so we will see.

Well that's just nonsense. But, I do agree he has been struggling as of late, I think when the playoffs start, the entire team has a whole is going to ramp it up a notch and at that point, they'll be one of the most dangerous in the playoffs. I would like to see the Pens D focus a bit on their gap control, and the (frank)ing odd man rushes they give up. I get that they're a team that trades chances, but sometimes they are just simple plays that can easily avoid the mistakes they're making.

Those odd man rushes have been (frank)in silly. You can play a drinking game to them at this point.

As unit they’ve been over-playing pucks, playing too deep and they get caught. They don’t need to trap it up, but they need to play a little more conservative.

I'll make my call on how worried I am after the first two games of Round 1. In neither year that we won the Cup have we been the team that coasts through the regular season and then turns it on during the playoffs, and in the years that followed our original '09 Cup run we had the tendency to do the exact opposite. This is a very different Pens team that just won the first back to back titles in the salary cap era, so maybe the regular season truly doesn't matter to them anymore, but with so few games left until the playoffs and seeding still being determined, I assumed around now would be when I would start seeing the turnaround. Hasn't really happened.
