the whole point is, we shouldn't be 31st WITH them

you just do not get it.

Look at the actual AMOUNT,
not the percentage

- jdfitz77

yeah the difference is like 100 over the course of 75 games now. Thats 1.25 more faceoffs per game in the dzone than the others i mentioned.

ROR isn't the problem with this team
- SABRES 89

he could be a 3rd line center this fall making 37.5 mil

He’s becoming hard to defend.

Now, our 7.5 mil center, who we traded a bunch for “isn’t the problem”

Great. What a stud

I posted numbers the other day
ROR averages about 8 per game
If i remember right, Kopitar is around 5.5

That’s roughly 30% more,
and that’s a HUGE difference
It adds up

does ror move to lw this off season, and take the face offs?

serious question

- homiedclown

I'm hoping that is what Mittelstadt allows us to do. Him, Asplund and one of these other shmoes works out...

I'm dreaming sorry, back to the regularly scheduled programming.

I see it the same way. I’m praying we win one of the top 3 picks. Dahlin stabilizes the back end. Having one of Svech or Zadina allows you to roll three lines like this.
?-Eichel-Svech/Z
?- Mittelstadt-Reinhart
Nylander-ROR-Okposo
Bailey-Erod-Baptiste.

Need to fill in the question marks

this is not a ror bash post

botts and housley want an up tempo, north/south team

I don't see that fitting for ror, reinhart, okposo or pommer (for next year)

there is nothing on lw worthy of a top 9 spot

you need to spread the slower guys throughout the lineup to do an upbeat game plan

ror-eichel-2018 first rd pick
nylander-casey-reinhart
baptiste-asplund-okposo
smith/bailey-e rod-pommer

does that work?

I just can't see them going that young. I think you'll see Wilson back and a few vets added to the mix.

with the poliots, girgens, larsson, ror, reinhart, pommer, okposo on this roster

you will never be able to have an uptempo north south team though

Chicago blows this year...
that just goes to show you how much having a decent supporting cast matters

Or explain how Pitt struggled for so long while they were having trouble putting other good players around Crosby & Malkin

Also...
i never said we matched up to the guys you’re listing
Heck, Eichel doesn’t even match up as our best forward compared to most of those team’s best

Obviously we need to add more good players
Just bc we don’t have Keith...
doesn’t mean that guys like Seabrook & Hjarlmsson & Sharp, etc etc etc weren’t an important part of Chicago’s wins

Met him at my kids school the other day. Very nice guy. Day he signed contract I said we would regret it though.

Not because his brain would be scrambled eggs though, before the injury he was performing as expected, by that I mean he was earning his money.

I agree with your point. I just see next year as a transition year, allowing them to get away from Pommer, Girgs, Johan, while letting Asplund, Pu, etc. develop in Rochester. There's just too much to overhaul in one summer. They won't go with 6/7 forwards with minimal or no NHL experience.

Assuming you can't trade Okposo. You have to consider dealing Sam or RoR.

I think Eichel will have the 4th highest cap hit among forwards next year

Is he the 4th best?
Nope

News flash...
Buffalo is gonna have to overpay EVERY good player

I just don't buy into he is tired crap

kopitar is 4 years older, plays more and never hear, HE'S TIRED

he should leave his purse on the bench and go in the dirty areas and make some impact plays

- homiedclown

Kopitar also has an $80M contract. Apples and oranges there a bit.

Plus Kopitar was pretty bad last year and there was talk of massive buyer's remorse being in year one of said $80M deal, hey maybe he was resting up.

ROR outscored him by 3 points in 4 less games last year.

Top 30? No, probably 45-60.

Problem is as more centers enter the league, he drops further and further.

It’s best to sell while there’s value

2 years from now Eichel’s deal will be one of the best value contracts in the league. Cap is going to continue to rise. I don’t think Matthews signs for anything less than $12M

Completely reasonable argument

But our good players aren’t as easily replaced as you’d make it seem either

We traded Kane,
and got zero good players back

If we trade O’Reilly,
it can’t be for futures that aren’t gonna help us for years (if at all)
