I was a little nervous watching that ankle get rolled up on. That's just what he needs, scoring in a winning game, pushing the sabres further down lessening the chances for help, and injuring another ankle in the process.

If you get equivalent value for less payroll, that's not .50 on the 1.00.

Half the issue was Murry got character guys that couldn't perform. No one listens when it's apparent your character guys don't belong on the ice.

- gcomella34

I didnt think 30 points, prospect or draft pick is full value of Ror. Plus that a hope that a call can perform at that level. He just doesnt belong on this team, along with many others.

I agree 100% on the second part.

We’ll see what happens next year,
but I’ve been saying all along that Mittelstadt at 3C makes sense

Judging by them trying Sam at 3C earlier this season, and the success Botts experienced in Pitt while having 3 scoring lines...
I’m not surprised at all to see them start him at Center
Probably the best way to get that 3rd line productive

And if the plan is for him to eventually be 2C and trade O’Reilly...
then why even bother wasting time with him on the wing

Also eases him in against lesser competition
(for the most part)

Leafs started Matthews at 3C,
and that seemed to work pretty well

Maybe it changes if he struggles in his own end though

PS.
F the Leafs
Hahahahaha!

- jdfitz77

He's going to have 1 practice under his belt, just seems a little easier to let him get acclimated on wing. I thought they'd go the safer route, kind of excited that they didn't.

things like exit/entries and shot assists are almost entirely driven by the player himself. despite a mediocre corsi, eichel does really well in the areas he has control over.

I think we get decent offers cause this league still operates on the assumption that guys like Russell and Gorges have a place in the NHL at a role higher than 7D. people always pay up based on reputation. "big tough young d-man who puts up points" will peak a lot of teams interest, thats why context is important.

I personally dread the thought of Dahlin playing with Risto. I don't want him playing with someone as defensively incompetent in his own end (aside from the crease) as risto.

Agreed on the draft position though. anyone of them for me would be a welcome addition.

If the league still thinks Gorges has a place in the NHL, then Botts REALLY screwed up by not trading him.
Everyone seemed excited by the Borgen signing (including me), but I don't think he's projected to be a fleet of foot point producing Dman. Kinda the opposite, from what I've read.

For the sake of his health, his family, and Sabres fans, retirement might be a consideration.

I think he does have a place in this league, player development, quality control, but not in the defensive rotation on the ice.

He is a character guy, but one that can't produce. I like the man from his interviews and heart, but is it a wonder that no one took he or Gionta seriously? You need your character guys leading the team to do so with at least COMPETENT point production as well.
