That roster, on paper, is probably the best in the division. Granted, that isn't saying a tonne, but they should be so much better.

Brodie fell off a cliff, Hamonic has been okay, Stone is terrible and their bottom 6 gets caved in anytime they touch the ice - EVEN WITH BEST PLAYER IN THE DRAFT MARK JANKOWSKI!

I think the Flames have an Edmonton-phobia. They saw Edmonton on the edge of being a contender and they pushed too hard too fast to catch up.

That's why (I think) they rolled the dice on their First Rounder and even took a flyer on Jagr.

Feels good but if we took Karma vengeance on every NFL player, they would have to play 7 on 7.

With that D core and goaltending plus their top 6 they should have been a lock for the PO's. But I said it at the beginning of the season the Flames outright refuse to address their bottom 6 scoring issues and down the stretch when things got tighter it dried up. If Matt Stajan remains their 4th line centre they are in big trouble. Have a look at the PO teams 3-4 lines...they produce timely, consistent goals when it matters and can play defensively. Until the Flames address those issues they will continue to circle the drain.

With that D core and goaltending plus their top 6 they should have been a lock for the PO's. Someone posted it on twitter a week or two ago, but their bottom 6 is about as bad in comparison to their top 6 as any team since they started tracking fancy stats. Right there with those Penguin teams where after Sid and Geno there were only like 3 forwards who knew what hand they shot.

What a surprise that a plug like Brouwer and non-player like Lazar didn't help
