It is sold for medical purposes. And that definition of narcotic makes coffee and chocolate a narcotic.
- Shadman306

Only recently has it been sold for medical purposes

Buying pain pills from a dealer makes it a narcotic even though it is sold for medical purposes...

Looks like millennials are all getting lost in their "feels" again. It is illegal. Nobody cares if you want it to be or not. Nobody cares if you don't think it should be or not. It is, and until it isn't, and your employer says "don't do that', you should not do that.

Pot is not a narcotic
- Shadman306

Not medically. But the legal definition does not match the medical/scientific definition. When used in the legal field, narcotic can mean any drug that is controlled or prohibited by law.

Marijuana is still a Schedule I drug according to the DEA. I think the DEA is wrong about that, and so do a lot of states, people, and medical professionals, but that's the federal law in the US right now.

It's only illegal in some places.

Not defending the player at all, because he should be following whatever rules his employer sets.

I'm just saying most addiction/medical help systems don't list pot as a narcotic.

That definition is just really really vague

Here is the scoop on nfl drug policies and testing. A very close friend of mine is a director of operations for an nfl team. He tells me every player meeting reeks like pot, they all smoke all the time and its accepted and encouraged... As theyre driving into the stadium most times, they dont need to hide it. Believe it or not, they actually prefer players smoke pot vs going out partying all the time. Keeps them out of the public eye and they dont cause trouble sitting at home getting stoned. As far as random testing goes, there isnt anything random about it. They inform a player 60 days before they get tested so if a player fails a drug test it is completely on them, not the owners coaches or anyone else. They are given extremely fair warning. No owner, coach or manager wants his player suspended, ever. Thats a fallacy. Neither does the nfl, it doesnt look good for the league when players fail tests. A player has nobody to blame but themselves if they ever fail a test.

its the man holding them down again.. i don't understand the thought that because you don't think somethign should be a law it makes it breakable.

I'm just articulating my opinion. I also know a TON of boomers who smoke pot. It's not a Millennial thing

I'm trying to move the conversation from "It is illegal" to "it makes no sense that it's illegal."

If you’re 21 you can legally purchase and consume alchohol.

But if you’re in a DWI you can lose your job

If you’re at work drunk you can lose your job.

If you get wasted and make an ass of yourself on TV you can lose your job.

Private employers can have stricter rules than the government as long as it doesn’t infringe on someone’s legal rights.

Time to move on.

wrong..

it is illegal according to federal law, therefore it is illegal everywhere.. as of right now they look the other way. i think that will eventually become a national debate/supreme court case

- IndianaSabresFan

And even if it were legal... it would still banned.. Just like you can't be high, or drunk in any other profession.

No you're not. If you were doing that, nobody would have a problem. You're trying to make a case that a dude that has been suspended several times for several incidents of drug or alcohol use should not have been because, reasons. You can argue they should change the rules, but how are you going to argue the RULES?
