If you and I break a rule, or don't like a rule, we could go to a different employer. NFL players can't go to a different employer. The pot rules are irrational and hypocritical, so I would say it is on the rules, not the player.

But it's infinitely less harmful than the prescriptions that are no doubt doled out by teams to players. It would be less harmful for players to smoke pot than to take a bunch of pharmaceuticals. I 100% agree that pot is federally illegal. I also think that it's absurd that it is not only illegal, but a schedule 1 drug. The majority of America believes it should be legal. I could get into the facts about black incarceration based on marijuana laws, and all that, but no one wants to go there.

The conversation, for me, hinges on whether someone believe that a law can be "unjust." I believe it is an unjust prohibition, and like i said, i don't even smoke pot.

The NFL could take a stand that a majority of America believes: people shouldn't be punished for pot.

A private employer can says it’s illegal for its employees. And guess what the players signed off on it in their CBA.
