I also wanted to bring something else up. I've seen a lot of people talking about Babtiste and Bailey and what to do with them next year. As well as, what our line-up will/could look like. I think a bunch of people are forgetting that they will lose their waivers exemption next year leaving the Sabres with 3 choices.

1. Play them in Buffalo
2. Trade Them
3. Sit them in Buffalo

There is no way they don't get picked up if we try to send them to Rochester. They may not be good enough in some's opinion to play in Buffalo but they definitely are not bad enough to pass through waivers, someone will grab them and chances are we will be talking about how stupid it was for Buffalo to let them go for nothing. I personally think they should be playing up here next year. Babtiste has been showing he can hold his own and Bailey is a much better option then some of the guys we got up here now. I also believe C.J. Smith falls into the same category, might as well see what he has got now.

I agree with playing them up here next year as well. Shed some vets, see what they got.

With how good this draft class is the lower we finish the better chance we can grab a guy who Should have gone in the first at the beginning of the second. With this class an early second is very similar to a late first. We may be able to get someone who can contribute in the NHL and hopefully be a top 6 second pair type of guy depending on who we draft.

We could also trade that second and something else to jump back into the first if a team wants to trade back. That is if we finish Low Enough

- Sabrehagan

I'm picturing the Sabres finishing "low enough". Lottery is only the 1st round, so we got that going for us...which is nice...

edit: And go Yotes, put em away in OT.

I think we'll be seeing one of these guys be traded soon. Bap, Bailey, OReagan, Smith will all be ready to make the jump next season. Add them to Erod and Wilson who I see here next year and there's a bottom 6 right there. Factor in Girgs, Larsson, Pommers, and someone has to go.

I would love to see at least one of Larsson or Girgs leave, but we're starting to see a jam in the bottom six.

Sabrehagan- where have you been with all of these relevant points?. Great post .

Both Bailey and babtiste looked good on Saturday.
Rather have their speed and youth over Pouiout, Josefson and, Nolan

I want to him him and that team go far. But he's already done enough down there for me. Next year, bring him up and bring in a cheap vet.

Who wants him, though? I wish we could get something for Lehner this summer. What are we going to do with him given Ullmark will be the guy next season.

I am just hoping that we pick in the Top 4. I really like Svechnikov and even though he plays RW he does shoot from his left, so I wouldn't be shocked if we pick him and put him on the left wing. Also, even though I don't believe Brady T is second on the Sabres board I can see where they would have interest in him given the chemistry he should with Mitts at the World Juniors. Of course I would prefer Dahlin but I am not getting my hopes up but with the way some mock drafts have been looking I can see either of Svech, Zadina, or Brady T going in 2-4 or even making it out of the top five if a team wants defense instead and is fine waiting. I just want Buffalo to be able to get one of the Top 3 Forwards if we miss out on number one. It's the entire reason I want the Sabres to finish last, at least they will be guaranteed one of them

I think we will either try to get something/anything at the draft or let him go to arbitration and walk away from what he is offered. Sucks if we get nothing for him but rather he be gone and have Ullmark split time with someone else. Shouldn't be too hard to find someone better than Lehner in Free Agency.

I know what your saying, people keep saying " you can't tank" it doesn't make sense. %100 chance of getting one of those 4 guys if you finish 31st.

And the percentage drop between last and second-last is 5.5%. After that, each slot is 2 or less percentage points apart.

As nervous as I am, I can't see Jbotts let us drop out of 4. unless he likes a couple other guys too in the draft

I get what some people are saying, who wants their team to lose, but the way I see I am not routing for them to lose I am routing for what is of the best interest of the team.

This part I know some people on here will strongly disagree with but when it comes down to this at the end of the season to me it is like a reverse playoff push, except instead of wanting to reach the playoffs you want your team to finish last to get the best draft pick.

Say what you will about GMTM, and I have a lot of negative things to say about him, but he knew how to lose: Trade anything of any value ensuring that your team is not good enough to win. He put them in the best place to fail and it worked they finished dead last. (If you need a reminder just look at the Senators this season)
