If the gophers suck there is not much benefit to leaving him there for another year. He would learn more in the AHL
- lulags

Leave him at school the rest of the year...

Bringing him to Rochester or Buffalo now burns a year of his ELC

Sign him in the off season

I wouldn't say it's great but its a decent signing which doesn't effect compensation picks so that's a plus

He does need to clean up him fumbling issues

I've always been impressed when I watched him play. I never understood why he did not get more playing time wherever he has been.

You see I have that mindset but what happens if he's the one that wants to sign but we declined and he sours on us

And the NHL needs to fix that goalie interference that was clearly a no goal yesterday ..

lets not all be homers now if that happened to us in the playoffs we would be furious

What i gathered from backreading this thread is people dont have any appreciation for scotch whiskey. Its beautiful, curious, and extremely polarizing in the same breath.
Highland
Lowland
Islay
Island
Campbeltown
Speyside
All are single malt varietals named for the different regions they come from. All have different styles and use different ingredients and mixtures to differentiate themselves. Comparing highland park to lagavulin is like appes and oranges, the only real similarity in is the country of origin.
Blended scotches mainly use single grains, and have a different nose, touch and breath all together from malts. Theres a distinct difference in flavor, ingredients, and aging processes which produce a different product all together.
Bourbon for the most part is just bourbon, very little character compared to scotches. In order to be a bourbon they all have to use a certain percentage of ingredients, aged for a specific time period in a specific type of barrel and be from the state of kentucky. All scotch is not just scotch. I (frank)ing love the stuff.

TIL I don't know poop about scotch.

I will never trust a guy that ups his play after we are done from the playoffs when he was hot garbage in the beginning the year

Just shows me the true character of that person

But if they’re injured that’s a different story

- gerbe75pts

I agree.
Weak mind, not what I want in my core or supporting cast.

I will say however, he has some of the best net front presence and hands I have seen, can pass with the best, is terrific down low. They will miss that aspect if he is traded.
He needs help in getting the puck through the neutral zone and down deep, once it’s there, he becomes a beast.

I'm inclined to agree with gerbe as well but I still think he's worth at least bridging just to see where he can take his game

My takeaways from last nights game and since Eichel got hurt in general are:

Samson is proving to be the real deal
I can live with ROR salary
Okposo is a slow bum
Nolan has no business in the NHL
Nelson is not ready
Beaulieu needs to be gone asap

- lulags

I don't disagree, but he had a good-by-his-standards game. If he had played like that all year, yeah he would still make dumb mistakes, but he would have way more goals/assists

Exactly, people need to get past this mistake free timid ass park the bus style hockey.

How many pucks did the leafs D give away last night? I lost count after the shift where ROR had 3 takeaways. Thats what high risk hockey is. As long as you win/score more than you lose/giveaway ...

Ya, I agree with that...I’d still like to see what he becomes...2 year Bridge is perfect for this situation.
I hope he plays more like he has consistently rather than take 45 games off...if he can get that poop straight, great keep him.
I do like him and ROR together, maybe with Baptiste who can bring some speed and hopefully finish the set-ups those two generate.

The Sabres are all about "earning your chance" so they only way I see that is if Kyle C (hurt last night) is out for the year. Cause he earned the chance to play. I can't see them signing CM and just putting him in over another guy who played in AHL all year helping Rochester get there, but maybe I am way off point on that.
- Lilroot9

You're right, sort of.

This also depends on contract negotiations. Sometimes with college guys, they'll want to burn a year and a stipulation of signing them early is to give them a look in the NHL, like what we did with Fasching. UFAs always do this. Such was the case with Erod, Nelson and Smith.

Your point about 'earning' essentially starts next season.

I don’t mind his overall game now though...took him a while to get it back, understandably so. I don’t think he hurts them now.
That likely changes in 3 years time though.

The "good guy" character has to mean something as well.
Okposo picks up a lot of points on a bad team
