It's not just about Redbreast, it's about all whiskies and what makes whisky whisky and what makes whiskey whiskey, and bourbon, and malts and blends. American, Scotch, Irish, Japanese... It's about all whiskey.

Gotcha. I was judging the book by its cover. I will watch it, whiskey is a beautiful thing.

I’m slightly changing my tune on Reinhart.

He’s looked alive

- sbroads24

It’s still fair to question the first half of this season

U know I’ve defended Sam,
and i do still think he can be a good player

But there is absolutely NO way he deserves a big $$$ long term deal right now

A decent bridge deal,
something like 2yrs & 3.5per,
makes sense for both sides

I agree with all of this, but i think he would get more per yr in arbitration. Hopefully not

What i gathered from backreading this thread is people dont have any appreciation for scotch whiskey. Its beautiful, curious, and extremely polarizing in the same breath.
Highland
Lowland
Islay
Island
Campbeltown
Speyside
All are single malt varietals named for the different regions they come from. All have different styles and use different ingredients and mixtures to differentiate themselves. Comparing highland park to lagavulin is like appes and oranges, the only real similarity in is the country of origin.
Blended scotches mainly use single grains, and have a different nose, touch and breath all together from malts. Theres a distinct difference in flavor, ingredients, and aging processes which produce a different product all together.
Bourbon for the most part is just bourbon, very little character compared to scotches. In order to be a bourbon they all have to use a certain percentage of ingredients, aged for a specific time period in a specific type of barrel and be from the state of kentucky. All scotch is not just scotch. I (frank)ing love the stuff.

Not true,
but it does have to be made in the US

I don't think so ....... he's gonna get paid. He should by the way ...... not a breaking the bank deal mind you.

He's the ONLY guy on this team that goes to the net and he's simply the best passing forward behind the net. He's a pure play maker. He's not going anywhere.....

I like Sam
Just don’t see him getting a long term deal

For him to do that,
He’s gonna want too much per year

1 or 2 year bridge deal, to prove it,
makes more sense for both sides

Its very much true. Its trademarked by the state of kentucy hence: kentucky straight bourbon whiskey.
You can make the same poop anywhere but you cant brand it as bourbon.
-The Hank

Not to start a pissing match,
but you’re wrong here
Most bourbon is made in Kentucky
BUT
By the official standards,
it only has to be made in America
Not specifically Kentucky

That’s what i thought too
So the Nyquist numbers aren’t really applicable

However,
Sam’s agent may push for a 1 year bridge instead of 2yrs
That way they’ll have more leverage with his arbitration eligibility after next season

Legal requirements

Bourbon's legal definition varies somewhat from country to country, but many trade agreements require the name bourbon to be reserved for products made in the United States. The U.S. regulations for labeling and advertising bourbon apply only to products made for consumption within the United States; they do not apply to distilled spirits made for export.[18] Canadian law requires products labeled bourbon to be made in the United States and also to conform to the requirements that apply within the United States. But in countries other than the United States and Canada, products labeled bourbon may not adhere to the same standards. For example, in the European Union, products labeled as bourbon are not required to conform to all of the regulations that apply within the United States, though they still must be made in the U.S.

The Federal Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits (27 C.F.R. 5) state that bourbon made for U.S. consumption[18] must be:

Produced in the United States[19]
Made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn[20]
Aged in new, charred oak containers[20]
Distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof (80% alcohol by volume)[20]
Entered into the barrel for aging at no more than 125 proof (62.5% alcohol by volume)[20]
Bottled (like other whiskeys) at 80 proof or more (40% alcohol by volume)

Bourbon has no minimum specified duration for its aging period.[22] Products aged for as little as three months are sold as bourbon.[23] The exception is straight bourbon, which has a minimum aging requirement of two years. In addition, any bourbon aged less than four years must include an age statement on its label.
Bourbon that meets the above requirements, has been aged for a minimum of two years, and does not have added coloring, flavoring, or other spirits may (but is not required to) be called straight bourbon.

Bourbon that is labeled as straight that has been aged under four years must be labeled with the duration of its aging.
Bourbon that has an age stated on its label must be labeled with the age of the youngest whiskey in the bottle (not counting the age of any added neutral grain spirits in a bourbon that is labeled as blended, as neutral-grain spirits are not considered whiskey under the regulations and are not required to be aged at all).

Bourbon that is labeled blended (or as a blend) may contain added coloring, flavoring, and other spirits (such as un-aged neutral grain spirits); but at least 51% of the product must be straight bourbon

If it’s me...
I’d agree, bc I’ve been a fan of Sam’s since day one

I can’t imagine Sam’s agent would do that though
He’d be leaving too much potential $$$ on the table

Wrong.
I wanted to like lehner. He is terrible on a fundamental level.
Just watch him play. Forget the stats, he sucks as a goaltender in this league.
