Crosby’s icetime has likely been increasing due to Rowney’s injury and even after he came back Sid has continued to get double shifted. Sid was also killing penalties with Rowney our. I don’t see that as a common trend moving forward. I also don’t think Sheahan is worse than our bottom pair wingers.. hence why I figured him to come in around the 9 minute per game mark
- WSCTeton17

Yes Sids time will drop because he has been double shifted, and is that ice time he came up with all 5v5? Seems like he just added minutes as if Sid and Geno never play together on the powerplay.

If we lose him and it's a great return for a rebuild, I'm okay with that.

If we lose him and it's a poop return because melnyk wanted to save money..........then I'm looking for a new team to cheer for

- sensarmy_11

Well hopefully everything works out for you guys it's a tough time to be in and eventually here we will be in that state once Sid and Geno Era is over.

Well i don't think they'll play both ZAR and Hornqvist with Sid, seems stupid as both are pretty much doing the same thing.
- Mikewatchman

Sully really seem so to like what Simon is doing with Sid. I feel in the end the lines could look like this

Simon - Crosby - Rust/Hornqvist
Hagelin - Malkin - Rust/Hornqvist
Guentzel - Brassard - Kessel
ZAR - Sheahan - Rowney

If Rust stays with Sid you could try ZAR on the left and swap him with Simon. But agreed no need to have ZAR and Horny with Sid. I like Rowney in the lineup for PK and a right handed face off option. This leaves you the option to move Sheary before Monday for another D man or the ever far fetched Kane option as part of a package. I feel if Sheary isn’t going to have a spot in your top 9 you should try and move him. Just my thoughts.

Simon and ZAR can be sent down and probably will... Freeing up more space for an impact winger...

Haha hopefully just a depth D, does everyone really feel like we are gonna get Kane? I don't get that feeling, but a d man I see happening.

Penguins posted GMJR interview on facebook. If you want to have a good laugh take a look at the comments, its gold.

So far I have seen people:
- Cursing JR because he traded fists of fury and now we are going to be a target to cheap shots. We will miss his grit and he was also "scoring lot lately"
- People saying we should have traded Maatta (!!!!!!!) instead of Cole because he was a important piece and way better than Maatta.
- people saying we gave a lot and are not convinced about "Brassards numbers"
- one guy saying trade makes no sense because we traded a great prospect (Sundqvist!!!!!!!) for reaves and now he's gone.

Facebook fans are the best, honestly.

Pretty sure ol' Palmer left here for Facebook, so he could become the voice of reason.

Any news on who will be this years college most wanted to sign?

Saw a couple of names in here I think last week, any news about any of them?

Have to start looking considering we won't be trading our 1st away at the draft again this season.

- Aussiepenguin

Dylan Sikura is one to keep an eye on. Some rumors of him not signing with the Blackhawks (which would surprise me)...but he was ZAR's linemate and Pens can make a pretty damn good pitch.

The sad thing I keep hearing on hockey shows is that they’re clearly trying to get moved to Quebec at this point.

Meh.. Oleksiak is just as effective... And my gut is telling me they're gonna get Kane too for some reason... Not sure I want that. Would be overkill.
- MattStrat

False.

A Sheary based Kane trade would be a wet dream.

I don’t even know who’s available. There aren’t any good rentals as far as “depth” moves go.

Part of me worries because you get a stacked team that doesn’t have chemistry and it’s a disaster.

I’m sure Sid would love Kane next to him though.

The CBA says when a team retains salary it’s for the duration of the contract not a season.

ZAR and Simon are impact wingers. We don’t have the assets for anything else but maybe a depth dman. There is no reason to bring anyone else in an f up this teams chemistry.

Jimmy R is really good at sweet talking teams into retaining salary. First it was Toronto holding onto 1.2M for the duration of Kessy's deal. Now u telling me the Guins will only be responsible for 3M of Brassy this and next year?

Tough to jump right in on a B2B. Team is playing well right now too. No need to rush it.

How much salary was retained? Any word on the prospects they picked up?

Pretty amazing trade right there!

It's like those questions could be answered by reading the article or a tweet about the trade...
