EDIT: Also..they stood a great chance...honestly if it wasn't for Hitler's own hubris they would have taken the caucuses and got the oil that the German army desperately needed........the war would have been very different. you were right. i edited my post. the second replay showed it better. the guy with his helmet off was right on top of it but he had to bail. in hindsight he should have just taken the penalty.
