Hearing that San Jose among the several teams who have talked to Ottawa regarding Erik Karlsson. Not sure there's a match there, but not surprised either by the Sharks doing due diligence. They're big-game hunters, went after Stamkos 2 yrs ago, traded for Thornton/Burns...

I'd pull the trigger on both, get rid of the cap hits...you'd have middlestadt and four 1st's..I'd think the animosity in your hockeybuzz board would be gone and fun to read again...

Lehner isn't horrible. He is average to slightly above average. He should be able to get a 2nd or 3rd either at the TDL or draft.

The problem with the Lehner and Kane/Bogo trades is that they never lived up to expectations. For what we gave, most of us were expecting more. GMTM royally f-ckd up the rebuild. Imagine where we would be today if we had Shanahan and Lou at the helm of the tear down/rebuild.

What would 'franking up' the deadline look like, aside from trading nobody of course?

I'm already tired of reading comments digging at those that supposedly think JB is a 'genius'.

Dreger was on the instigators yesterday, saying there were no solid offers for Kane this season, but expects some this week.
He also said the sabres were looking for picks, not marginal nhl players.

I would think 2 first rounders was/is a solid offer?

Everyone is waiting to judge jbotts on this deadline.
The bar is set pretty high.

Kane's value has been greatly exaggerated on this board.

I don't remember you sharing the part about the 1st round picks being 2019 and beyond previously.

The Pens caved because Brassard is signed for next season as well, he's been a decent playoff performer, and the salary retained component.

I heard the same about Pitt still being interested in Kane.
