what would the Flyers equivalent be for Igor Rykov? just trying to get a frame of reference of the trade
- nastyflyergirl

He has 2 years left on his khl contract and seems completely uninterested in the nhl at this point. Has middle pairing potential though. We don't seem to have any of those currently.

Is it really debatable that Lindblom would have been a better callup option than Goulbourne last month? Or that he's a better NHL winger than Lehtera or Weise? I don't think it is.

Obviously if the NHL players were there this wouldn't have happened but Germany also didn't have Dennis Seidenberg, Draisaitl, Rieder, Greiss and Grubauer. I may be missing others as well. its not exactly their all star team per se.

I would LOVE to see this team beat the Russians but i can't see it happening. If OV was there, maybe kidding kidding

It's debatable that lindblom felt comfortable enough in his life that he wouldn't of been overwhelmed by another big change and his performance on the ice to suffer. Just like the sanheim vs manning debate it's not an argument of is sanheim better or is lindblom better - they are. It's a question of what is right for them. Lindblom benefited from the ahl and can now hopefully stay up and have a great career the 4 months in the minors will be laughable in a few years
- Tfaehner

to be fair, the same exact thing happened to Giroux in 08-09. Got called up late, played in the playoffs and everything else is history.

I saw somewhere the comparison to a poor man’s Orlov in Washington. Not sure how true that is, but it’s something.

Exactly. We can go bargain shopping and I'll be happy. If we make a bigger trade I would prefer it someone like domi who is young and has 10+ years of high quality hockey left
- Tfaehner

And that is what I am saying. Get a guy who is available but has term. I am ok moving a Morin if it means I am getting a legit top 4 back in Ekman-Larsson. Better yet what if I include one of the 2018 1st rounders and Rubtsov and try to get Domi and Ekman-Larrson. For this run and the future.

So far it has been hard to debate the results. The organization seems to be pushing all the right buttons.

They are ONE point out of the metro lead in a season where we all thought they would be a bubble team at best.

Every single young player they have given an elevated role, is prospering.

Lindblom has stepped in and seems to be prospering right out of the gate.

Sanheim struggled at the NHL level and seems to have found his game again at the AHL. He may be ready soon to take the step again.

In fact, I feel like one of the only missteps Hexy has taken this season was starting Sanheim in the NHL.

We can continually beat the subject to death about the teams handling of the prospects, but you can't argue the results.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON in here can't wait until Weise is a memory.

We can troll each other all you want, you can all call me an organization sycophant with orange colored glasses. I certainly don't agree with some of the moves, but I can also be honest with myself and admit that even the ones I have disagreed with have this team in a position to win the friggin division!

WIN the friggin division!

Weise, Lehtera and Filppula will be distant memories very soon. And if the Flyers don't think we have suitable replacements in the AHL at this time who am I to disagree? All they need to do is point to the standings in both the NHL AND the AHL, say, "thanks for your opinion now go (frank) yourself"

It is what it is.

Two completely different issues.

First opinion is very debatable. I won't participate in it, but it is debatable.

Second opinion isn't debatable, imho. He is. Now. (If you're referring to the past when he was still down in the AHL, well, that is debatable, and I'll stay out of that fray also.)

If you can give a mid rd pick or mid/low end prospect for a bottom pair dman or a pk guy you need to make that move. Then if you have faith in the GM he can do things to reacquire those picks if need be.

While imo they are not a "true" cup contender no reason not to show your players and coach you will help them out when it is needed. People may disagree but that goes a long way to both parties; also outside the organization.

Oel is 26 and more of an offensive weapon than defense. His next contract is probably going to be massive. He will be 29 when i see our championship window opening. Don't get me wrong he's good defensively but there is a reason he's 2nd pairing to guys like hedman in international play. I love oel but not for the price or timeline. Domi however is a great fit.

Lindblom is showing he should have been called up long before Simmonds got hurt.

The Goulbourne experiment in January seems weirder with every passing day.

so basically the Devils gave up a 2nd for a rental. He should help them but I don't think i would have wanted to give up a 2nd for him. Honestly I like this team if everyone is healthy and keeping Lindblom up. I'd like another dman.

If Mrazek plays like last night consistently I wouldn't mind keeping him for 2-3 years and moving Neuvirth for whatever they get. I like Neuvirth more than most but he is just not reliable. Guy is made of paper. Its a shame.

I just hope they don't go into tank mode because they have a lotto pick in their sights.

I'm kind of starting to hope Hextall puts a package of picks together to move up in this draft. We have a lot of young, promising players in the NHL and in the system. Could be the right time to package a couple of picks and move up for a very highly touted prospect. That's all assuming the price to do so makes sense.

- hereticpride

I hope they do try to tank, because I don't think they're bad enough to do it correct. A half-assed tank job gives them an 11-15 pick.

I don't understand it from a devils standpoint. They are kidding themselves if they think they are cup contenders with kinkaid in net. I would of kept the prospects especially d prospects. They need to continue to build their defense but whatever let shero sell prospects and picks only helps us long term

But this is also a plus for no NHLers in the Olympics. It's all up for grabs now.

That is exactly what I am saying. I don't think anyone can debate that they have a better feel for the players and what they think they can handle, than we do.

edit: except for the PK, that is a trainwreck that needs to be addressed in a radical way.

I am ok with the USA losing, they were a mess.

I also am not on here making excuses for the USA. They lost, straight up.

Beer league team, All star team, Canada lost.

Good for Germany, it was a joy watching the Germans outplay the Canadians for the majority of the game.

Why do we have to wait until he is 29?

Add Ekman-Larsson to the 2nd pair here, push down MacDonald or Hagg to the 3rd pairing.

But it doesn't have to be just him. The Flyers have the picks and pieces that they could gamble a little and it still wouldn't take away from the future.

It makes every game so much more exciting. The unpredictability of this tournament makes for more suspense, more drama.

If they win 6-7 more games it's hard to imagine them below 11th at best. They are only 1 game back from the flyers in points technically. The west has destroyed the east this year

Yep. The women's tournament is a snoozer in that regard. Everyone knows it's going to be US-Canada for the gold. All of the other games leading up to that game are just warm ups.

I really hope the NHL stays out of the Olympics for good.
