I'm a member of NRA... Problem?
It's ALL about votes.....No one ever talks about how the destruction of the family or family values has destroyed our youth, or how social media is taking over kids lives, or how kids are being over medicated, or that there are no longer any mental institutions to take care of those who show violent tendencies...of course not!!!! It's the guns! Last time I checked, these guns were available in the 70s, 80s, 90s and this problem wasn't like it is today!!!!
Want to get rid of AKs and Assault rifles, fine ...I'll give ya that, but we all know it ain't changing a thing. A semi automatic hand gun can do just as much damage as anything else can, with in reason. Then what? Take away hand guns?
Oh please
And I don't need a Beware of dog sign...just have an NRA sticker on front/back door.. don't think I'm going to have any burglars - rrentz
I don't have a problem with you being a member of any organization that you feel the need to be a part of, because you have a 1st Amendment right to organize in that fashion.
Just like I have a 1st Amendment right to express my opinion that the fact that 35,000 people in this country a year die from gun violence is a big (frank)ing problem. I also think that it is a big (frank)ing problem that kids in this Country are 20 times more likely to die from gun violence than any other country in the world.
It's interesting but anyone that's ever stepped foot in law school knows that no constitutional right is absolute and that the government can restrict your constitutional rights in manners that are reasonable tailored to protect a compelling state interest. Which is perhaps why Justice Scalia, a conservative icon as you know, stated in Supreme Court opinions that there is no Second Amendment right to own an assault weapon.
But, hell, why stop at assault weapons? Why not give American the right to have rocket launchers, surface to air missiles, and weaponized drones? At this point, I settle for banning military style assault weapons that serve no practical purpose other than on a battle field.
Do I have a problem? Only to the extent that you seem to think doing nothing is acceptable. |

Hey you listen here commie, if I want to have a Hellfire missile at the ready to protect my house I damn sure will. If there's an intruder in my residence that is threatening my family...you can be damn sure I will fire a missile into my own home to protect them. |

Depends what you mean by "assault rifle" If you are talking about fully automatic weapons, they were pretty much banned in 1986.
If you are talking about the made up term for a semi automatic rifle, then basically you have to ban almost every gun including pistols.

Except there is a way around even that, isn't there?
And all you have to do is read the history of the AR to realize what it's purpose is. It serves none, other than to inflict maximum possible damage on another person. It's not a hunting rifle. It's not a defensive weapon. What it is the preferred weapon of mass shooters, because it now has become a game amongst these guys to try to beat the previous body counts, with that weapon being best situated to do it. |

No problem with new guns laws....way over due, but stop pretending that it will stop the problem.. The cities like Chicago and D.C have the strictest guns laws in nation....wait for it....wait for it.....and highest gun related deaths too!
Stopped sale of AKs and AR15s and the like, have more stringent back ground checks..I'm all for it, but bottom line is that those whose break the law or intend too still will get guns with ease, regardless of laws. Just saying don't get your hopes up. |

these weapons that let you change magazines on the fly, where one person can shoot round after round in a matter of seconds, if you wanna convince me you guys need that kind of firepower to shoot Bambi I am a little skeptical |

Seriously though, I'm all for severely restricting the ability to own AR-15's, even as a gun owner. Anyone who says that they "need" one to hunt is absolutely full of sh it. You don't need a semi-automatic rifle to hunt any big game, nor will you kill most big game with the standard 5.56/.223 round that the majority of AR's are chambered in.
There is only one civilian use that I believe AR's are necessary for, and that's ridding farmland of feral hogs. Those things do such a massive amount of damage to crops and reproduce exponentially and having a rifle capable of multiple shots in quick succession is pretty vital to being able to cull them properly.
I don't see any reason you couldn't strongly regulate and issue licenses to people who need them for this purpose and qualify to own one. Otherwise, nobody on earth really needs one of those rifles. |

Illegally yes. Just like anything.
Legally you have to get a special permit, go through a crazy backround check and then spend probably upwards of 50k. So basically no one would do it.
