Keep him, they finally find a guy who costs nothing and cab play a 3-4 role in Housley’s system, and poof, let’s get rid of him.
How about we get rid of guys who can’t / won’t play the system.

- IonSabres

why is every trade involving someone of value equal to "getting rid of" ? go back and actually read the post.

3-4 is a huge stretch, especially after 10 or so games. Hes a good 3rd pair guy. Until he puts a long stretch of games at 2nd pair ice time and either a) doesnt get caved in defensively in terms zone time and shot attempts or b) generates a lot of offence, he's a 3rd pair guy

Edit: cost nothing may change if we overpay based on a half season of play this off season

Just stick with a samuel smith oatmeal stout in a bottle. The water they use in england has a lot of hard metal in it, after you drink one my mouth feels like i just licked a nickel. (frank)ing love that stuff.

Season ending shoulder surgery for jake McCabe. Sell sell sell go for Svechnikov
- Acup2buff

Fixed. Dahlin will require a small miracle to happen.

If they can bring Nelson back as 6/7 at a 2 year x 1.6m (McCabe's salary), I'm fine with it. Anything beyond that makes me nervous. I'm not as optimistic as some people here on him.

If they decide to sell high right now on him, I'm fine with that too.

Kinda yea. Mainly just meant winning the lotto. Depends on where Svech goes I guess. Not sure how the Russian thing will play into all of this. But to me hes clear cut #2

I assume you are saying these are deficiencies currently.
So in addition to 6 bottom 6 guys,
What about:
-2 top 6 LW’s
-1 top 6 RW when Reino is gone
-Replacing slow poke, overpaid ROR in the next 2 years
-1 Goalie at least
- two Top pairing D-men

- IonSabres

We don’t need 6 “bottom6” guys
We need a 4th line center who is good at faceoffs

Line 4, something like...
Wilson-(Beagle?)-Girgensons
could work pretty good imo

Line3, how about...
Bailey-Mittelstadt-Baptiste
-if those wingers don’t work, try:
E Rod, Smith, Fasching
-if they don’t work, try:
Asplund, Pu, Olofsson, Davidsson

Top6
Okposo-Eichel-(Svechnikov/Zadina)
Nylander-O’Reilly-Reinhart

O’Reilly is a GOOD player
He’s not the problem
And even if he was, Mittelstadt could eventually become a 2C
And Asplund or Davidsson or Pu could eventually become a 3C
And at that point, we could trade ROR for defense potentially

Kane is traded for defense, that helps
If Sam is moved for defense as well,
then we need ONE of the NINE guys i mentioned for the 3rd line to become a top6 guy

Yeah, i guess it sounds like a lot of “what ifs”
But really,
we get Dahlin & the defense is set

And we have so many forward prospects coming, that some of them are gonna work

Or we trade some of the forwards for defense
Top6 wingers can “easily be replaced” anyways... just ask Sbroads

You can either look at it like that
Or just continue to be negative

Neither viewpoint is gonna affect what the Sabres actually do...

But one of the ways u keep beating your head against the wall
And the other, you’ve got a smile on your face

Up to you
I choose to smile & be hopeful

I'm already tired of Boqvist vs Tkachuk debates. Odds say, there's more to come!

Ran the draft simulator a few times. Cringes me to see teams like Chicago, Edmonton, and NYR moving up 8 spots to pick first.

I think Dahlin Svechnikov Zadina will be the top 3 in some order.

Lottery loss would only hurt ego's of fans who actually tie there's to something there's literally no control over

Even if they fall back 3 spots, we're still talking a choice between Boqvist, Hughes, Tkachuk or one of Svechnikov/Zadina if someone goes off the board.

Im locked in. I would like either Svechnikov or Boqvist. But will be happy with Zadina

My gut says we end up with Boqvist

Quinn Hughes, college kid playing for Michigan. Screams Botts pick imo

Edit: This is assuming they miss out on a lottery spot. I dont think he'd reach with a pick this important

If we win the lotto, the defense is fixed

Dahlin-Ristolainen
Guhle-Scandella
McCabe-Nelson
Antipin

And if we really wanna make it top notch,
go after Carlson this year
or OEL, McDonaugh or Karlsson next year
or whoever is available the year after

Hardly. How many defensive d-men do you see in that top 6? Guhle getting top 4 minutes right away? Aren't you the one who's way against that?

I read the post.

Because, when you trade someone, you have gotten rid of them. If you interpret that to mean I think you are saying he is a slug, then stop ass-u-ming.

I too like longer sample sizes, however His play has convinced the Coach to play him up, even on the top pairing...and he did ok....great upside potential there...NOT that he is a Top Pairing...but his play has shown much better than your internal rule of a 3-4. He can actually play the system, whoc( according to season lon* comments from the players themselves, very few are/have been.

Lastly, his 10 games as you say isn’t going to turn his contract into 8x7.5 expense.

So rather than add him to a trade to benefit another team, let’s keep one of the few bright spots and add.

Low cost controlled Dman, who lays the system, can play up if needed for a period of time...give me 3 more please...and Dahlin

Def could see it. That was my first thought after seeing some of his game at WJC. I could get behind the idea of building a team USA core (Eichel, Mittelstadt, Hughes....Mccabe, Ect.) but only if we are just outside top 5
