The fact everyone blames Housley for not being a "NHL head coach"... What GMTM did by gutting the minors, paying high salaries/assests for Okposo, Moulson, ROR, Kane, Bogosian, Gorges, Gionta, Kulikov, Lehner and Legwand put this team dramatically behind. GMJB and Phil needed the year evaluate and start tearing down from here forward. (And I was blind about Tim Murrays capability as a GM. How very wrong I was)

I think he's a nice surprise, but hardly irreplaceable. He's head and shoulders above guys like Falk, Gorges, Beaulieu etc. but there are guys available every year who are.

If you can keep him for the third pair next year, great. If not, oh well.

He is a great find that cost absolutely nothing and has been playing solid, 3-4 solid, even on the top Pair for awhile. No he isn’t a Top Pair, but he’s better than a 5-6.
Especially on a competent-D starved team like the Sabres....who everyone beats up because their D sucks.

This same, he can be replaced easily is the same, dumb, dumb, dumb logic that was used to justify losing other bottom 6 forwards...that then lead to “ our bottom six sucks”, “ no secondary scoring is killing this team”.

Keep the good ones, add to them right? Or does the story change on a hourly basis in here.

Right, wrong or indifferent; when a list containing 10 or less names constitutes players worth retaining, it boggles my mind how we think they are close...
Even factoring in Baptiste, Bailey, Mittlestadt, Guhle ... and maybe keeping Josefson for the 4th, that gets you to 14 or so.
I think the Mgmt wants youngins to develop in Roch, meaning...they need to prove they want it ... so I see Asplund, Pu, Davidsson (or whatever), Borgen, etc being in Roch next year.

2019 season is going to be really challenging as well while the purge is delayed until youngins prove they are ready.
