Don't mean to pick on you (you just happen to be the first to respond), but the female doging about Hak reminds me very much of certain Eagle fans with Doug P last year. Do I like the 4th line being out there with one minute left? No. However, the goal against was an icing so to blame the coach is ridiculous. And if this team had competent PK (I put that issue more on Hextall) we'd probably be at the top if the division.
Answer me this, did any of you expect this team to be 3rd in the division at this point of the season? The honest answer is no and if you don't think some good coaching played a part in that than you're just being thick skulled. - EducatedOpinion
Not only are they in 3 but only 2 points out of second and first place is even in view at 5 back. |

He’s not a bad coach overall and I give him huge props for moving G to wing and putting Provy and Ghost together, but his late game usage and his overuse of Filppula is more than worthy of criticism. Hell, Stevie Wonder can see that Filppula has lost a step and his line is awful. |

I thought that was like the one bone you couldnt bruise. On second thought, I'll just defer to the medical experts on this board. |

The negative culture that permeates this thread is really sad and pathetic. Read the last 3 pages or so. Hey, the Flyers played a solid game and really played well enough to win the game in regulation. Bobrovsky made some great saves on grade A chances for the Flyers. They gave up one goal in regulation. Neuvirth played a solid game and the Flyers got 2 points on the road! All is good. - MJL
MJL It is a thread for opinions so let people have an opinion, that is what makes it interesting. If you don't like it feel free to exit. I know about 30 guys that would not be too disappointed. |

You don't need to apologize for calling out some of the ridiculous opinions being offered. You're correct to do so. Lehtera and Filppula are seeing ice time late because of their veteran experience and are reliable defensively. If I can't have Couturier out there and he can't play every shift, no issue with Fillpula and Lehtera late in games with a lead.

Most of us just have fun with the poop we post, and hell even if some of it is a bit negative it’s only in good fun.
The crying lately over how sad, ridiculous and pathetic the board is, is just weird. |

Does that statement include myself and am I allowed to have an opinion? I don't think I have the power to stop people from having an opinion. If you don't like my opinion you also have the ability to follow your own advice.

Maybe we should just all have happy thoughts and not make it a discussion. I would rather have people call out the mistakes they see or think they see instead of state the obvious.
of course it was a good game, of course Bob is the only reason it was close and of course it was a mistake to have Flip on the ice. |

Ha, you won't find me defending the Filp usage. One point I will make, though, is that from the all star break until around mid March we're just about playing a game every other day. Is it possible he's trying to avoid over using key guys in any one game during this key stretch? Doesn't excuse using the 4th line in the final minute, but I'm fine with using them at the 5 and 3 minute mark. |

Complaining about end game usage doesn't mean I don't think there's some good coaching at work. Just because I female dog about how many looks he gives the slugs doesn't mean I or anyone else here absolves him from everything he's done well.
He's done some gutsy, good things. Moving Patrick up recently was gutsy because it was pretty hasty after only a handful of good games. Worked out. G to the wing. Gutsy. Solid. Coots to 1C. Moving Jake down to distribute scoring. Juggling D pairs to find Ghost and Provy.
He's done good things. But putting out 3 of some of the worst 5v5 players in the entire league to protect a one goal lead in the final 3 minutes against a division opponent in the thick of the playoff race is boneheaded. Then look what happened? It led to an icing and a goal. That is a bad matchup and the coach deserves criticism. This team is in a playoff position and playing well. And that's great and very exciting and I love watching this team win. BUT if you roll Filppula out there for 15+ minutes and Lehtera and Weise for 10, you're going to get rolled in the playoffs. Not that I'm expecting them to compete for the Cup or anything, but it's almost like seeing a bad habit develop. It's concerning to some extent.
I don't understand how these boards have to be so black and white. It's insane. People don't get the fact that there are many decisions coaches have to make, and criticizing a coach on one of the DOES NOT MEAN I think he is atrocious in all aspects of coaching.
Or, dare I say it, just because some people think Elliot's usage might have contributed to his injury DOES NOT MEAN his injury was directly caused by "overuse" and only that, 100%.
Good night. Let's go watch skiing. |

Of course it does but you continuously call people out for their opinion and want to argue that your statements are always correct. It just gets tiring to read over and over. We are all diehard Flyers fans so this discussion is for everyone pros and cons included. |

Yes when the vibe is overwhelmingly negative and most of the posts are criticizing the coach and focused on who is on the ice late rather than focusing on the results and a huge win on the road against a division opponent, I find that sad and pathetic.
