I don't hold Virtanen to any standard. A Neely comparison was brought up. I think the organization should focus on his best skill which is his speed. Train him to be a force on the PK and play him on the 4th line until he earns a promotion. I don't understand when posters suggest he could be a Raffi Torres comparable. Torres put up a 165 PIMS in the AHL as a 20 year old. Jake doesn't have the mean streak. - CanuckDon
And yet he keeps saying he does..
“Next game I can get in,” he said this morning after an optional skate at Staples Center, “I’m going to be in there laying bodies on guys and showing I can play that way, too.”
He's giving me Kassian-like vibes with his short streaks of playing how he should |

This should definitely be a lesson to group leading Vancouver's resign Gudbranson effort. I'd even toss out that Smith>EG |

I'd pick him up on Waivers if I were JB, fill a roster spot and make a trade. |

the Statement Gorton and Sather just released is what the Canucks should do, and should have done years ago.
Let the fans, the league, the players, let everyone know they are open for business. Understand that staying competitive was great while it lasted, but the goal is a cup, and it wasn't going to get done with what they have. I really like the move. |

difference between Canucks and NYR, is that NYR is willing to get rid of higher profile players, while the Canucks list 7 waiver players and see "give me your best offer". Nash and Grabner are nothing like what they used to be, and can still score, and letting teams and players know they are available sends a good message. |

I'm interested in seeing what putting a poop disturbing agitator on Jakes line and keeping the pair together would do for his game. Maybe he shakes this timid frame of mind he's in. He never played much with Dorsett... but the scrums after every whistle, the few more fights... mostly resulting from physical play between whistles could really help his game. Also knowing someone has your back and it's mutual and constant may make Jake an edgier player. When we have seen that confidence, he has been a better player. Now you only see tiny flashes of it. |

Good points. Also this has to be a message from Green to JV that says...'Arch is here and may stay if you don't pick your ass up off the ground'. If JV is going to continue to play tentative hockey he may as well do so in Utica and get Arch the chance he deserves. |

Actions speak louder than words, I don’t care if Linden never says “rebuild”, as long as they don’t show us they believe in this team by standing pat... |
