It really depends what team he's on, great second line center behind a good first line center though.

On the Canucks he's definitely a first line center #fourthlast

- LeftCoaster

I'd say he's a 15 to 31 team, top line center right now....

Bo is right now the 23rd best Center in the game.

like most GM’s(JB included) he wasn’t as good as some people make him out to be but not as bad as others say either.

Gillis did handcuff this club (like alot of GM's have) but without his shrewd moves there is no way we dominate 2011 and make the finals like we did. Credit where it's due. Ehrhoff, Higgins, Hamhuis, Lapierre, Torres, Malholtra, Samuelsson and few others were all Gillis.

Now signing Edler for 5 years when he had CAR's 1st overall on the table for him and passed...

He also threw away a 1st+ for Ballard, a 2nd/3rd for Bernier...etc etc etc.
We will never know if a dif GM would have gotten a few extra players to hit scf like gillis did, but he does not deserve any credit for Hamhuis.
Hamhuis left money on the table with other teams because we were the only team he was willing to sign with. A monkey could have signed Hamhuis.

He made a couple key moves and signings that gave us the edge to get us to g7 of SCF.
He also inherited an amazing core of players from previous regimes, and hammer was a guaranteed signing.
He also ruined our future and most of the high picks he traded were for trash.

- Retinalz

The counter point to that could be that he failed to make the key signings and trades to get the team beyond a game 7 loss, while inheriting an amazing core of players...

He did fail to repeat 1 playoff success. Wasn't that the only year they got out of the 1st round under Gillis?

Good question, I forget when MG/Nonis transition happened?

Subban wasn't big enough to defend, that's why I said "as long as he's big". A big guy can build strength and win battles on the wall at least. Stechers biggest issue, he can't.
- LeftCoaster

Interesting you bring up size and Nashville, considering Ellis is arguably their most effective defender. He's built a lot thicker than Stecher, to be fair, but still.

Was that the Luongo poop his goalie pants in the second round against the ducks year?

2007 was when Lou laid the egg vs the Ducks. I think Nonis was still here but he may have been transitioned out by then...

New blog is up.

Now that Gaunce's scoring side has been unleashed, how many more will he score before the end of the year??
