The boss analogy doesn't work, Aquaman is an owner not a boss. Two very different things.
A boss in theory knows how to do many of the jobs his employees do. An owner is just the money and hires a boss to get the results he wants.
Sometimes, mostly small business an owner and boss are the same person....not in hockey. - belcherbd
You think FA knows nothing of the business he owns? Sorry but in addition to being an owner, he is the BOSS. He tells TL he wants something done, TL tells JB, and JB does it. Think of him as the CEO of the Canucks. He is everyone's boss in the organization.
It is highly likely in 2014 when Benning was hired, he mentioned wantinga local talent to sell to the fans. I remember an interview from then where JB was largely going by the same scouting reports Gillis had, Gillis also mentioning that he liked Larkin at 6. This adds to the idea that JB was likely looking at Larkin at 6, but instead took JV over what Gillis was going by.
It is just as likely that JV was a FA pick as it is a JB pick, we will never know 100% what happened, but we do know that FA meddles in his team, and he seemed to like the idea of a local talent.
Guy gets the toughest minutes on the team, nice to see him pot a legit goal at home - Nucker101
I think he could be a 10g shutdown guy for us. I wouldn't pay 3m for 6 years for him. He likely won't be a center to earn that, but 2-2.5 for 5 would likely get it done.

It's sort of like John Scott scoring in the all-star game. It's a feel good moment. He tries hard. Coming more frequently now though. 1 in 70 and now 3 in 30. If he can score a goal every 10 games.

Reasonable expectations with room either way. Still needs a lot of consistency to be considered anything like that. There's room for him on the Canucks still. No to a big raise though. He's not as effective as Dorsett... who was over paid.

There's a growing trend with the Canucks. Every single player is overpaid no matter what.
The Sedin's won't dump puck in when Jake is flying down a wing and easily can fetch it yet they turn in back to defense receive puck then dump it in corner for one of the brothers to get.
Of course too slow. Man this is getting old this poop with these 2.

They’re still good on the PP with Bo/Brock but their 5v5 play has fallen off.
Cole isnt fighting anyone. Gryba cleared waivers. Polak had no one want him even for cheap. Schenn has been bounced around. Emelin makes more then Gudbranson.
Cole is also going to be making more then Guds. - manvanfan
Polak wasn't really on the market this last offseason. He was committed to the Leafs, and was rehabbing an injury. Once healthy, he signed on.
That's not to say he isn't junk, though.
The Canucks d-core is in worse shape than I thought if you guys are considering him
