Guddy is probably at the high end of players that are like him. He is a really good 3rd pairing guy to have, can even be a #4 with the right partner. You don't pay 4m for that though. 3-3.5 is enough and I would keep him for that much.

So 2.5M per over 4 years for a similar player, arguably a better one than EG(at least analytically)

I really like the intangibles Gaunce brings. He’s big, improved skater, solid defensively, throws hits, good along the boards, back checks, plays the PK and good in the locker room(former OHL captain).

He has untapped potential imo. There’s some 4th liners making $3M so I say we sign him for 6 years at $3M.

That’s only 3.5% of the cap.
