well thats you ,not me. EG is the 97 paid defencemen , you can make good arguments he should be in the 3.8 -4.2 mil range putting him in the mid 70's in the league player salaries.
why just let him go for nothing? He's not that bad of a player

I really like the intangibles Gaunce brings. He’s big, improved skater, solid defensively, throws hits, good along the boards, back checks, plays the PK and good in the locker room(former OHL captain).

He has untapped potential imo. There’s some 4th liners making $3M so I say we sign him for 6 years at $3M.

That’s only 3.5% of the cap.

Summary: if EG signs for $4m its not going to be a cap drag or the reason for us winning or losing. The ENTIRE roster & contracts that is built will prevail on what happens or not.
