Yeah, it's likely Doughty pulls a Stamkos and waits to the last minute to sign an 8-year deal with LA... but there's always a possibility, albeit slim, that he tests free agency waters.

We don't yet know how deep Matthews-inception play made it into Drew's subconscious at the ASG.

Four of the goals were sweeeeet!

Two 1st NHL goals.

The Marner goal was fantastic.

And the Matthews goal - Greiss had the fantastic poke check, which of course ended up on Matthews' stick.

Matthews' release when he gets it just up under the bar like that is so sick and disturbing. He's the kind of player, anytime he's anywhere in the slot or around the net and the puck is even in the vicinity, you get scared if you're not a Leaf fan. Especially since he can take the puck away from people like Datysuk.

Mehh... his giveaway/takeaway numbers are actually not all that bad or, at worst are on par, when comparing him to other defenders. I think Leafs fans tend to over-examine his greatest misses.

He's a legit 2nd pairing defender who seems to have picked up his game recently after having a pooptastic first quarter of the season.
