Do you frankfaces really not think Weber could help?
My offer would start with Liljegren (or however the frank he spells it) and a 1st.
Then see what else we have to fill in.
But I doubt it would be enough. - Atomic Wedgie
weber is good, but the offers the habs are going to get are bogosian from buffalo and seabrook from chicago.
i wouldn't pay loljegren for that contract. even if there is a potential out with the preds down the road.
habs can still suck it. |

Leafs could get a ransom from Nashville in a couple years when they need him back to ltir him. |

Threeway trade with Nashville where the Leafs get Subban and Nashville gets Weber. Habs get a giant package of spare parts, garbage, and the 31st overall pick. |

There was a thread on HFBoards about this. Apparently Kapanen, Liljergen, and Pickard for a full contract Weber isn’t enough. They don’t want our spare parts. - Feeling Glucky?
If I was the Habs, I'd laugh in your face for offering me that.
Contrary to popular belief, Weber's contract isn't bad. The cap hit is under $8 million, and if he does decide to retire early, the killer cap penalty goes to Nashville, not to the Habs (or Leafs?).
If the Leafs could get Weber this year without giving up something very significant on the current roster, it would be a game-changer. |

really? (frank) that..no thanks
he is 32 and might be starting to slow down and break down a bit. its only going to get worse. Very few D are effective into their 30s.. Weber might but I wouldnt bet on it with 2 futures like that |

then at best it's a phil kessel package.
polak, 2018 1st, 2018 3rd, bracco and nielsen for weber (1.8M retained) and a 2018 2nd
wouldn't work salary cap-wise this year, would be more of a draft day deal. |

So here's an incredibly stupid question:
The final three years of Weber's contract are for $1 million a year.
Could you retain $1.8 million? Do the Habs have to pay MLSEL $800,000? |

There's no way he'd keep up with the team.
What's going on here? This isn't Shea Weber 2012. That, I would trade for. His Cap hit is 8 mil (give or take) until 2025-26. He'll be 40. |

If the cost is insignificant.. Sure, why not.. I would offer, Leivo, Gardiner and a 2nd rd pick at most.. Weber is 32 and injured. |

Only three players in the last 30 years scored more even-strength goals after their first 124 NHL games than Auston Matthews:
1. Teemu Selanne (64)
2. Eric Lindros (59)
3. Pavel Bure (55)
4. Auston Matthews (53) |

no doubt it would.
I am fine staying patient if the right (cheap) deal does not fall in the Leafs Lap.
Its starting to pay off already with Dermott.. who a lot of fans scoffed at the leafs trading down 2 times for.
I may be a bit higher on Lilyg than most. I dont want to move him |

Yeah, that's impressive. Imagine how good he'll be when he has Bracco on his wing.

The Leafs still have a lot of good prospects to come though. The time for trading isn't now (IMO) |

as i understand you actually retain the same percentage of caphit and salary (and bonuses).
so habs would be on the hook for ~$250k of those last 3 years in salary. |

I was at the game last night, it was unreal. When Dermott scored, our section was going nuts and we were getting everyone to stand and cheer. When he appeared on the jumbotron, it was nuts haha. At the end, the guys beside me started a Freddie chanted and we were all nervous that we were jinxing his shutout with like 45 seconds to go |

if a doughy, karlsson, trouba or oel was the trade, i'd be ok with liljegren in the package.
but not for a guy already on the wrong side of 30. |
