There’s like 4 Jets on this site lol
Easy to say now, judge a fanbase during down years. They alll eat each other and the players/team. - Nucker101
Well the jets havent been very good. Only one playoff appearance in 7 years now. Or 6 years, time flies.
Jets fan are just passionate about winning and losing. At least the people I know. Im sure somewhere there are the people that freak out.
I myself just enjoy freaking out once in a while. Even though Im not actually. I could care less. Its fun to fake it. |

They were just thankful to have their team back instead of being heartbroken by a game 7 SCF loss.
Chevy chose to let Ladd walk instead of signing him to a LE contract. He didn’t make short-sighted moves and didn’t promise his fanbase that they’d be competing with the elite teams in 4-5 years and then proceed to tank during 3 of the next 4 years while trading away as many picks as he acquired.
You’re comparing apples to oranges. |

I think this "Tanev is ideal mentor" narrative is silly (because guys can become good without someone like him as a teammate), but even if Tanev really is the ideal partner for OJ, you'll be in tough to find a coach that will deploy the pair in situations that actually benefit them both.
Edler-Stecher looked like they had solid chemistry together, but Edler faces competition Stecher is overwhelmed against, you also cant justify playing Edler 3rd pairing minutes. The same thing would happen in a Tanev-Rookie pairing, one isnt being utilized properly and could have an adverse affect on the entire team IMO - WhiteLie
Yeah when you hear trade Tanev for a first we will probably be drafting 5 th and 33 rd. There is no one that elite at 27-30 that we need to get another first rounder. One through 15 don't need Tanev. Trade Gudbrandson and Vanek for seconds and use Gudbrandsons money to offer Tryamkin a contract |

Good article, I like the honesty he portrays.
It was certainly humorous reading the posts tonight, quitting HB because of something team management does that the poster doesn’t like is asinine in my opinion. - Makita

WhiteLie sort of contradicts himself. Says Tanev isn’t crucial as a mentor, alright fair enough. But trade him and who plays against top lines?
32 year old pending UFA Edler who is a 2nd pairing dman?
Pending UFA MDZ who’s play has been crappy overall the last couple of months? And is a 4/5 dman?
Gudbranson? Biega? lol
One of the young dmen playing with Edler gets baptized and if Edler goes down injured then hello Oilers 2.0 next year
And if people want Demko next year..good luck playing your rookie season behind that defense kid.
Canucks have too many old ass mentor forwards, but lack another vet dman to handle top pairing shutdown minutes. |

Trading Tanev creates a hole on D. That may or may not be filled by a draft pick in his return. Unless someone is going to give up a RHD that is very near NHL ready. Tanev still has a couple of years left on his contract. Draft another D at 5 or whoever they pick. If that D turns out in a year or two and the team still sucks. Then trade Tanev before his contract expires or if he there is a replacement for him. |

I just don't think you pull the trigger on a Tanev trade unless it is a 1st round pick and a blue chip prospect. - Retinalz
True I wouldnt give him away either, but he is in his prime and should create a bidding war if made available to reach a fair price. I dont think his ability to mentor is greater than the potential return |

Demko has been fantastic in Utica, he's definitely ready for a backup role in Vancouver next year, but it 100% depends on the teams status. If the team isn't going to be better than this year another year in the minors won't hurt at all. |

Van should look to give Philip Holm some games. Trade Hutton, Pouliot, MDZ. One of the 3 at the deadline and decide who they are keeping and trade another one at the draft. 5 left side guys needing waivers next season is bad asset management. |

I understand the hole losing Tanev would create. He has a tremendous impact on the team that is hard to replace, but I just dont like the concept that he would make a good partner for a rookie because you wont put Tanev and Juolevi up against top lines anyway.
If the rationale is simply that he will take the tough minutes, then thats fine but I'd still be looking to get the best return on a depreciating asset and see if I can moneyball a replacement |
