This team signing Gudbranson long term might be the last straw.

Should Ray be a contender for next GM? Benning can join the scouting staff.

All good points of course. I just think that with his injury history it's too risky. I like the guy I really do but mentoring kids playing 20-50 games per year ain't going to cut it. Do you honestly think Tanev is that important to mentorship considering the D we have coming? It's almost like it needs a full reset post-Edler. If we truly believe Tanev is top 4 then we should be able to get a late 1st for him regardless of injuries. Need to do that now before all we get is a 3rd. IMO anyways.
- LordHumungous

Tanev is a top 2 on most teams, unless they already have a #1/2 RHD. I would be ok with trading him for the right return, but he has more value to this team than a lousy high 1st. The fake rumor of Liljigren and a 1st is easily his value. The problem is that if you don't have guys that can really shelter young guys, how will the young guys learn and develop properly?

No. The guy has zero front office experience.

Bring him on if he wants to join in an assistant/advisory/scouting role

Again we are just armchair GMs but Sergachev will have played two years before OJ will have played his first game.

It is ok to take a hunch on a draft pick but if it is the fifth OA you better be ready to pay the price if you are wrong

- VANTEL

For sure & if paying the price becomes a habit then JB is gone. TL possibly also. The position JB is in without a new contract & prospects still developing is an spot.

Maybe. I do often find myself agreeing with him a lot. There are a lot of other things to being a GM, in terms of contracts, scouting(pro/am), trade negotiations. He'd be a better tone setter I think though, personnel wise, than either Linden or benning IMO

Hire Ray & is JB’s direct boss.
Leave JB with the GM title and role.
Lessen TL’s role or pink slip him idc.

JB is gone . Linden did nothing yesterday to make one think Benning would return. There has just been too many errors

I thought he was trash two years ago when he started getting hyped. If we had drafted him that would have been my line in the sand

Ya I think some exec experience first for sure. I'd consider Dave Lowry, adding him to the mix in a similar role if he wasn't already on the Kings bench. I honestly have more of a problem with Linden than Benning at this point, I just don't see a lot of acumen there.

His numbers in the AHL so far seem solid considering his age, I’m guessing you don’t like him defensively?

I think another question is how many guys do you need to shelter them (ie how many can you mentor/develop at the same time)? And how long do you need these guys around for?

My opinion is that with Edler and MDZ around for another year, Stecher entering his 3rd season, Hutton his 4th, and Pouliot his 4th, that Tanev is a luxury and not a necessity. If you need assurances then look at a cheap UFA like Hamhuis who can still fill in for the odd game in a top 4 role. Hell I'd even bring back Sbisa
