So Van can't draft Quinn Hughes or Ty Smith in the top 10 because there are no first pairing D man that are under 6' tall. Not saying they wouldn't be a good D but they aren't not tall enough to be a top pairing. I'd rather draft a D with potential to be top pairing then a guy who could be a good 2nd in the top 10.

I would be surprised if they do nothing. They would be breaking the terms of Babcocks contract. Babcock has requested that they be buyers and improve the D by TDL. They promised him as part of his contract that he will have a say in decisions regarding how the team is run/built.

Liljigren and a 1st is fairly equivalent to what Hamonic got, but you have to remember that he has more value at TDL than Hamonic had in the offseason. They have equal value but Offseason value is lower than TDL value, generally.

We want Lilj and a 1st you say no but want Tanev. We come back with Lilj and Marner instead of the 1st and you guys settle on the 1st or don't get him. Naturally there is more too it then than, but that's the jist of what the deal would be like. Unless our GM takes a lowball offer. Hard to say with Benning sometimes.
