Agreed...more I watch DuClair play, the more I like him.

Hartman to me is one of the biggest disappointments this year. Huge drop off in his game and I just dont' see how he can skate with top end talent.....he misses way too many grade a/b scoring chances.

BTW, who had 5 minutes and under in the pool for apologist to bring up Keith's disallowed goal in Detroit? My god.....it never ENDS. Never seen a man crush like this....this is beyond Santo's love for Kerry Wood, or the Hawks love for yaz.....this is a whole different level and truly uncomfortable to listen to.

He's actually been on the top pair with Morrissey until he got hurt. Buff is playing more now but he was actually on the third pairing. I've been watching the jets a bit lately since the hawks have been so hit or miss this year.
- GPHawksfan

Top pair how? In terms of QOC? Maybe but the minutes favor Buff.

Buff 23:27 per game, 3:18 PP per game.

Trouba 22:09, 1:32 PP per game.

Trouba is stuck behind Buff for prime minutes in WPG, at this time, any way you slice it.

What I heard on the XM channel this morning - if he had filed retirement papers, he would have to go thru waivers to come back into the league. Apparently, he hadn't - and he was a (an?) UFA, thus able to sign directly with Nashville.
- StLBravesFan

Thanks for the info. I don't think he's going to be the difference between them winning a cup or not, but he used to be a very good player and at his age the time off may rejuvenate him. Agree with your comments on Duclair. He has high end speed/puck skill. Debrincat + Duclair have developed some good chemistry together with Toews in limited game action.

Hossa is a HoF guy and was a real special player. They were so lucky he came to Chicago long term and he is nearly impossible to replace. Even Saad, being called a mini-Hossa will never replace what Hossa could do.
- breadbag

Not even close........ Saad doesn't have any where near the hands, tenacity, play making ability, or overall 200 ft game as Hossa. He was the definition of the TOTAL PLAYER, on and off the ice. Saad has been a HUGE disappointment to say the least...and now that he's playing with Kane ???? NO CHANGE YET !!

3 time 40 goal scorer, 100 points in 2007, and in a league of his own for complete wingers. I have no idea what happened to Saad, but between 19+20 they are both handling the puck like they have oven mitts on. No dangles whatsoever. IDK if I have my rose colored glasses on, but I remember Saad being a much more dangerous player offensively.....

...AND faster - he would bust out seemingly every game, beating his cover from the blue line to the net, controlling the puck and getting off a dangerous shot.

Not this year....

I remember a much more north/south type player. Straight line speed and power to bull rush to the net. Maybe a pretty deke here or there, but not often.

At least that's what i remember from 13-15 seasons. I could be wrong.

Agreed........ have no idea what's happened to Saad. I thought it was playing with Toews and neither has created a lot of scoring chances for 1st liners, but now with Kane it's more of the same. What happened to the guy that ALWAYS went to the net in the preseason and the past ? Remember the comments about him scoring a high percentage of his goals from 5 ft in ?? Where has that been ? Is it the money syndrome ? Is he pouting about not being on the PP ever ? IDK........ he's just not the same since the beginning of the year. He needs to pick it up and fast !!

none got past the 2nd round, 2 lost in 1st round sweeps...

BTW the hawks record includes losing the last 4 games which they took off as they had clinched...

Welcome............ Don't know what it would take to get Trouba but this 23 yr old in his 5th yr with 320 NHL games under his belt is a top 2 Dman. Kid is a beast and is only an RFA next yr to boot.

My guess is they want a whole lot for him.

- Mr Ricochet

I'd go as far as Murphy, Hartman, and Anisimov to land this guy. It's definitely an overpay bit he'd be a number 1 or 2 for the next 10 years.

Totally understand your point, what I am saying is to sit there and watch your teammate get beat like that, and the element of toughness is supposed to be in Ryan Hartmanā€˜s game, you think he would have wanted to push that issue with Austin Watson at some point during the game. If you pull any number of players, they will definitely tell you that they have no problem killing a Penalty that a player receives while coming to the defense of another player, no matter what the situation may be, I understand it that particular instance the Blackhawks were getting ready to go on the power play, it just looks bad and other teams take notice of that. Especially now with the amperage as far as intensity been turned up in this playoff push where the referees most nights are going to put their whistles away and let the players decide The outcome of the game, which I totally support.

You would have really enjoyed Zdeno Chara's response last night to Nick Ritchie hitting David Backes a little late after he released the puck. If you haven't seen it, check it out. The first thing he did was retaliate by clocking Adam Henrique. And then Getzlaf got involved and he was lucky the linesman got in between them because Chara was on the warpath.

Somebody in the NHL is going to deal with that Austin Watson a-hole sooner or later (just like when Seabrook had had enough of Backes). But expecting a welterweight like Hartman to take on a big heavyweight is unreasonable. He already got TKO'd by that big Islanders Dman a couple of weeks ago.

the mini hossa label was/is unfair to saad...he does not have that skill set...

hossa had highend offensive and sniper skills in addition to his great skating and defensive ability...saad was/is never going to be even a pt per game player

hossa had 8 years of 30-45 goals and 72-100 pts...you imagine if the hawks had that hossa when he was here; he only hit 30 goals once with the hawks..

you talking about last night's game...that was wingles who took that lug on...but point still applies...

nick ritchie is turning into complete jagbag...on a team full of em...WTF...obvious run and cheap shot on backes...the refs completely missed it...thats a major...

chara's retaliatory hit was very similar..

Jurco is an extremely forgettable and replaceable player, but he has been serviceable on line 4 when he finally got into the lineup. I know you are joking but there's no way they can sell Saad at his lowest possible trade value. Would you trade Saad for Noah Hanafin?

Was he the great 200 foot player when he was scoring so much with Ottawa - or did he develop that game in Pittsburgh/Detroit/Chicago?

Yes, but Ron Francis won't, he needs more than Saad for that kid.

Justin Holl making his NHL debut on D with the Leafs tonight. Another guy the Hawks drafted and got nothing from.

excellent question...i don't know the answer...

i did a search and the concensus is that he was always dedicated to defense; he may have refined that part of his game as he aged...

if he was just offensive oriented he might have been a 4-5 year 50 goal scorer

Its a physical game and intimidation is a big part of it. Chara decided to retaliate his way. Bettman don't want fighting in the game, you get cheap shots and stick fouls instead when the temperature goes up.
