I understand which direction the Blackhawks are trending in, but something happened in last nights game and is a long time hockey fan, did I have a serious problem with still.
Ryan Hartman, who is supposed to be one of the tougher players on this team, got hit with a questionable check, Tommy Wingels came over to have a chat with Austin Watson about the hit, and Watson, clearly the aggressor dropped his gloves first and started beating on Wingels like a rented mule. Now I am OK with just the five minute majors for fighting, what I am not OK with, is the response by the Chicago Blackhawks namely Ryan Hartman. I thought for sure that he would have pushed the issue with Austin Watson on his own behalf At some point during the game, there was plenty of time for that to happen. And yet there was the rest of the Chicago Blackhawks putting their tails between their legs, namely Ryan Hartman, I guarantee that Al Secord , Or just recently Andrew Shaw, Danny Carcillo or someone of that ilk would have pushed the issue. I understand in the grand scheme of things the Blackhawks won the game, but still this is the National Hockey League and when is Stan Bowman going to address some of this type of stuff.

Mackinnon has been their engine and he appears to have suffered a fairly serious shoulder injury. They will fade quickly without Mack in the lineup. Such a bummer, he is one of the most entertaining players in the league to watch.
- EnzoD

huh? He is listed day to day and still traveling with the team on the road trip, if he was seriously injured he would have been back in Denver.

Nothing really is pointing it being super serious as you are indicated of what has been announced by the team

Hartman's MO seems to be drawing penalties and he's smart about it. The Hawks were about to go on the power play in a close game, why risk it and give the refs the opportunity to even out the calls?

Avs will know more about Nate MacKinnon’s status within the next 24 hours but as team announced, will not play tomorrow and is, for now, day to day. The hope is he’ll be out a week or less: twitter.com/avalanche/stat… #BellLetsTalk

New to posting here after years of reading. If Jacob Trouba seriously wanted out of Winnipeg and Sikura turns out to be something g of a player, I'd offer Saad and either Forsling or Jokiharu and a pick of some sort for him.
- GPHawksfan

Welcome............ Don't know what it would take to get Trouba but this 23 yr old in his 5th yr with 320 NHL games under his belt is a top 2 Dman. Kid is a beast and is only an RFA next yr to boot.

My guess is they want a whole lot for him.

thats what BSN Avs are basically reporting too who are on teh road with the Avs right now. They think he will be ready for Tuesday at home against the Sharks.

Now if thats bc its not as serious of an injury or he wil be "good enough" by then and they will just numb his shoulder to play through the pain. Wont really tell until he gets back on the ice to see how he is playing

Why does Trouba even want out of WPG anyway? Looking to go to a contender? Stan would probly sign him to a deal with a NMC/NTC
- BlazinMike

He's stuck behind the 32 yr old Buff for the big Dman minutes. He wants 25+ minutes and top PP minutes.

It was a one goal game and they need all the wins they can get. Hartman's late penalty almost cost them the lead as it was.

By the time Hartman stood up and got his bearings Wingels was already in Watson's face and they were starting the dance. (Which is the way it should be. Why wait?) Wingels was smart enough to chat/shove first so as to avoid the extra instigator or 3rd man in penalty.

That too...... Plus they are loaded with young top end forwards in Scheifele, Connor, Ehlers, Laine, Roslovic. Guessing they want a top end D prospect just to open the conversation.

Totally understand your point, what I am saying is to sit there and watch your teammate get beat like that, and the element of toughness is supposed to be in Ryan Hartman‘s game, you think he would have wanted to push that issue with Austin Watson at some point during the game. If you pull any number of players, they will definitely tell you that they have no problem killing a Penalty that a player receives while coming to the defense of another player, no matter what the situation may be, I understand it that particular instance the Blackhawks were getting ready to go on the power play, it just looks bad and other teams take notice of that. Especially now with the amperage as far as intensity been turned up in this playoff push where the referees most nights are going to put their whistles away and let the players decide The outcome of the game, which I totally support.

so mike fisher decides to sit out 2/3 of the season and then comeback for a playoff push...interesting...

he certainly makes them a much deeper team at center...maybe the best center depth in the league...

He's going to slot in at 4C and play 10 minutes or less a night, I'd guess. Depending on how intense his training was, he could be an effective faceoff/PK/defense first 4C from the start. The guy was a legit 2C for most of his career. What will his cap hit be? Wasn't he still under contract when retiring this past summer? Does that mean his cap hit has to be the same as his previous contract?

Did Fischer officially retire? Isn't there a rule that you cannot come back to the league after a year retiring?
