“He pretty much puts up almost 30 goals a year, even if he’s on your third line,” said Toews, his longtime linemate. “He was quiet in the sense that I was getting the recognition of being a Selke nominee, but a lot of that I owed to him being such a great two-way forward. It’s kind of funny that missing a guy like Marian Hossa isn’t talked about as often.” |

Winnipeg is not exactly a huge place and there's not a lot in the surrounding area. Endorsement deals are minimal at best and Manitoba has pretty high taxes on just about everything. - PepinoPamplemousse
I get it, i understand the difference between a small and big market haha. Something about this whole thing just has a stink about it though. |

Hossa is a HoF guy and was a real special player. They were so lucky he came to Chicago long term and he is nearly impossible to replace. Even Saad, being called a mini-Hossa will never replace what Hossa could do. |

Yep. Which is why is it laughable that other GM's were crying foul play when he was placed on LTIR. The Hawks are a significantly worse off team without Hossa. Coincidence that the first season they don't have Hossa on the ice and they are last place in the Central? I don't think so. |

Not coincidental as far as Hossa not being here, but coincidental that Colorado suddenly got some balls at the same time haha. |

Mackinnon has been their engine and he appears to have suffered a fairly serious shoulder injury. They will fade quickly without Mack in the lineup. Such a bummer, he is one of the most entertaining players in the league to watch. |

His highlight goal during the WCH was one of the best I've ever seen.

Ah yeah that's a bummer for them. But if it means one less team contending with the Hawks for a playoff spot he can go ahead and stay out the rest of the year. |

Hawks played so well that old man Mike Fisher is coming out of retirement. |

That U25 team was just fantastic to watch. Since we don't get to watch NHLers at the Olympics, I guess the WCH next fall would be a decent consolation prize. Any word on that tournament coming back? |

Eh. Crime rates get skewed in smaller centers like Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Regina because the police investigate EVERYTHING. Stuff that a lot of people won't report in major centres gets reported in the small ones. |

Yeah maybe other areas call them centers, but I've lived in Winnipeg, Ottawa and Edmonton, and everyone calls them cities. |

Winnipeg does have some nice places to live, but if you like the partying night-life it's not the place for you. Some players seems to love the city, Buff, Little and Wheeler seems to be very happy there.
My guess would be that Trouba's situation is more about the team's plans for him versus the quality of life in Winnipeg.
This may be a bit off the wall, but I think that a trade involving Keith and Trouba are the core pieces could benefit both clubs. |
