Blackhawks update: Anton Forsberg starting tonight vs. the Canucks; no lineup changes, as Joel Quenneville will ride the hot hand. Corey Crawford has "had some progress working out" but is not on the ice yet in Chicago. |

right move starting Forsberg, for now anyway.
Would like to See Sharp in for Wingels, but we'll see how it goes. They've been clicking |

I hope Sharp is busting his ass to get back in. It doesn't look like his injury slowed his hip down much, but his hockey skills took a hit. |

It's the downfall of Western Civilization. Forget a planet on fire through perpetual war, squalid conditions around the globe (and here at home), lack of access to clean water in some areas, poor health care, and a rising misery index, a world generally owned, operated and consumed at the behest of the corporate empire in their quest for global hegemony...nope, what matters is how someone sings a (frank)ing song. - kwolf68
It is actually the best time to be alive. Murder rates are getting lower and lower all of the time, deaths attributed to war is at the lowest ever in history...I know it doesn't seem that way, but the media concentrates on all of the negatives, because humans are addicted to negativity, and they know this! |

Kindof wish Q would switch 20 for 38 on the second line. Let Saad go bumslaying with Anisimov.
Cat, Toews, Duke
Hartman, Schmaltz, Kane
Saad, Anisimov, Wingels
Hino, Kampf, Jurco |

Justin are the hawks looking at any European free agents or ncaa free agents to sign this year or in the offseason that they heavily scouted. Goalie would be nice to add depth to the system. |

Just had a new idea for lines(shocker):
Hinostroza-Toews-Duclair
DeBrincat-Schmaltz-Kane
Sharp-Anisimov-Wingles
Saad-Kampf-Hartman |

This next stretch of six games is the Hawks' last chance to get back in the thick of the playoff race. VAN, CAL, CAL, DAL, MIN, ARI. The bookends are bad teams where Hawks must pick up the points. In the middle are teams with whom the Hawks are in direct competition for the wild card. Then things get much tougher with VEG, ANA, WAS, LA. The boys need to make their move now . . . |

I've heard that they are looking to dip back into recruiting more from the Swedish pool. Elliotte Friedman listed a few players (Michael Lindqvist being one) that lines up with what I heard. They just know that there's no secrets anymore with how well these high-end Swedes translate in the NHL. So they know they'll have to create a good story and compelling offer.
I wouldn't be surprsied if they go back to the Czech league as well with their success in Rutta and Kampf.
Goaltending is something that is an interesting area as they have Crawford, Forsberg, Berube and Delia all under contract next year.
It would be surprising at all to see them re-up Glass for another year as an insurance policy.
With that being said, its plausible they grab another long-term project Goalie to go along with Peeters and Nalimov. |

Hard to argue that the trade has been a complete bust to this point. I don't think Saad can play any worse, and the first week of the season it looked like a great move for the Hawks. I still maintain that with better cap management Hawks should have never traded Saad and would have both Saad and Panarin today instead of 3rd line $4.5mil Anisimov. - EnzoD
No question Enzo...but that was Stan's summer of Suck tour 2015 where he sped up the Hawks descent to mediocreville. Should have bought out Bicks, moved Sharp at the draft, you know like he didn't do with Leddy the summer before. And Left Oduya to twist in the wind while he resigned Rundblad. And then the rush to extend Anisimov when he had a year left on that deal...
Meanwhile the Breadman 41 points so far. But the Hawks have cost control for a longer period and that's what's important. You have to hope that Saad comes around. And Forsberg hasn't looked great, but did a nice job in Nashville the other night. Meanwhile you got rid of your best Dman and are now looking for one...hmm...
well let's see if they can get the two points tonight. Will they rev it up like they did the other night against the Preds...we'll see.

There was a nice write up today in the Athletic on him and the three other Russians in the Hawk system from Powers.
Mostly it discussed how patience could pay rewards with all four in terms of letting them marinate in the KHL a bit. |

Panarin was just OK in the playoffs for us. Saad helped us win two cups and had some large goals down those stretches.
He also broke Shea Webers knee. Dont underestimate the impact that had in 2015 - Stan_Bowman
Recently rewatched game 6 of the final against Tampa in 2015. Saad played a major role in starting both the scoring plays in the game. |

They traded Keith? Hey DK, sorry, but Breadman racked up points in the regular season and while the whole team looked like garbage vs NSH in the playoffs, the stink he oozed was on another level.
Yes Saad v2.0 hasn't lived up to the billing yet but If you can find tape of Panarin getting five feet beyond the Ped's blue line from last year's drubbing I'd love to see it.
I loved Hammer but Stan sold high and got a player that has been solid more often than not.
The rest are mostly 20/20 observations blessed by hindsight and there was nothing wrong with the AA deal at the time...still isn't.

Shalunov who if he makes it over to the NHL will likely be 27 when he becomes a Hawk or they decide to deal him.
The other two were from more recent drafts, Artur Kayumov from '16 and Andrei Altybarmakyan in '17.
