I also recognized Bouchard as a favorable option when the latest prospect rankings came out.

- Supposedly he can shoot the puck and score from the blueline. Remember those days?

- Sounds like he reads the play well and is effective at both ends of the ice. Not just defensive with a total lack of point production or offensive but a liability in his own end.

- Apparently he's a great skater and quite mobile.

- He's not a Smurf and can play with a bit of an edge.

We don't just need D prospects. We need several that fit this profile.

You want to draft Engelland high in the second round? 😕

Yes He is a tough defensive Dman something this team really really really really needs

How is his skating though? No point in a big tough Dman if he can't catch anyone.

Codes has already said Logan Stanley won't ever be a top 4. I would rather someone with top 4 or a top 6 F potential with a high second. If Van gets another 2nd. Sure. Rasanen went 59th last year.

You can easily sign those types as UFA’s or trade for them without giving up a 2nd

Pit won 2 cups with Ian Cole being their toughest dman. He’s available through trade right now and a potential UFA this summer.

Or pay Try in 2019

Bouchard would be your top 4 Bahl is projected 5/6 I keep repeating it is for the toughness. There are no projected top 4 at pick 33

Deal fell through, his balls were too big to fit in the Toronto locker room

Exactly. Yet despite developing well enough to make the NHL he was traded for a bottom pairing dman(Bortuzzo) and a 7th round pick. And he was 26 years old.

There’s plenty of top 4 dmen that were drafted in round 2.

Isn’t Benning supposed to be good enough to find them?

The scouts project him at 33 or so but the Hockey Buzz experts say no

On that topic...

Resigned if not traded.
He needs to want to be here & a fair price.
Idk if thats likely hence a TDL move likely.
If signed then my Q is who is ondeck?

Haven’t seen the kid play to comment. I’m just saying, I think it’s stupid to draft guys who project to be depth players that high in the draft. It’s easy to find 3rd liners and 5/6 dmen so draft for upside. That’s what teams like Tampa do.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s traded for a prospect or young roster player. Benning has traded for way more prospects/projects than picks so far.

No rush to pick bottom pairing D if they even make the NHL. Better for the 3rd round & beyond. Early 2nd is BPA/need depending on who falls to us. I do believe we will get avery good prospect.
