Understatement. The Prospect pool on D after OJ doesn't exist.
- Retinalz

This was the point I was making to Vantel the other day about trading for D in the future if we are stacked up on O prospects and young pros and still dying at the D position. At some point in the next season or two, it's going to be time to balance out the depth in that age group via trade because they are years away from drafting a D core equal to the quality of the young forwards in the system.,,, unless we get some lottery luck for a #1 and and a couple of lower picks blossom to top 4 of course but I think the offset should be addressed after this season/draft.

I think our forward group in the future is too overcrowded, too many good prospects and not enough spots for when they all make it.

Draft Evan Bouchard with the fifth and Kevin Bahl with the 33 rd

Good synopsis on the place & time the Canucks were in. The emoji was very thoughtful. I’ll bring the gum to share with everyone on my next shop.

I think it's nice when we ALL get along.

I can live with Bouchard 👍
I still am holding out we might trade for a mid 1st or maybe later 1st & hopefully a 2nd or 2. As for Bahl it depends more so on who falls to us IMO. More good D could be there in the early 2nd round.

Maybe JB's long-term plan is to move some of the stop gap guys like Baertschi and Granlund for some better quality log-jammed D prospects.

My wish list is we have 4 picks in the top 40-45. Higher the better.

That could happen this TDL for the right offer. I’m down for that cuz at least they are both known quantities.

I also recognized Bouchard as a favorable option when the latest prospect rankings came out.

- Supposedly he can shoot the puck and score from the blueline. Remember those days?

- Sounds like he reads the play well and is effective at both ends of the ice. Not just defensive with a total lack of point production or offensive but a liability in his own end.

- Apparently he's a great skater and quite mobile.

- He's not a Smurf and can play with a bit of an edge.

We don't just need D prospects. We need several that fit this profile.

I am starting to like him more than boqvist. But would still prob take boqvist currently. That could change though.

Nice read & totally agree.
We need the skills we lack not just the bodies. Been far too long since we had any semblance of offense from the point &/or the grit.

haters are going to hate. When Barzal starts facing competition like Doughty every night like Boeser does instead of the second pairing, come back and we'll talk. Till then, he's lucky JT is taking the tough assignments.
