Solid night for Seabrook. Where's the resident crazy goalie talking about "me player" Kaner who busted his ass back-checking and took a huge hit to clear the zone on Vinnie's goal??? - EnzoD
The entire defence group played well, standing up on both bluelines. Really helps when the forwards are busting their butts coming back to help. Overall team speed has really improved noticeably. |

well imho...this is one of the hawks biggest wins of the year...
so go (frank) the preds...and the preds troll who likes to pop in here...
they go on the road vs a team they have not beaten in regulation in 7 trys and win a gut it out 2-1 game...
forsberg was great in the 3rd....preds were shooting from everywhere - bogiedoc
I will raise your “one of the Hawks biggest wins of the year” and make it “the” biggest win. It was absolutely critical that they get off to a good start after the break and pick up a win in a “two point” game. Very, very solid effort tonight — except, of course, for the power plays.
Looked like a total team effort with everyone playing every shift. This is the type of effort they should be able to build upon. This would have been a good win against any team, but beating the Preds after the way the Preds have controlled them over the last season was a bonus.

If and I mean if, they win 5 out of the next 6 then they have a chance, but I just don't trust this team to perform like they did tonight, every night. |

their schedule is just brutal but they have alot of games with teams they are chasing: ducks (2), aves (3), stars (1), wild (1), and flames (2) in home and home this sat and tues...not to mention all the other playoff team contenders: kings/sharks (5), blues (3), jets (3), bruins (2), caps (1) |

I'd have to agree with this. They went from abysmal performances the games before and after the bye, to very good performances before and after the all star break. That is exactly what I hoped to see but they've been streaky all season and I'm still doubtful they are good enough to make up the ground necessary to make the playoffs. But if they are going to make a push, this was the kind of win they needed.
Although.... how much does it really matter if Toews and Saad aren't regular point producers and the PP is dog 💩... This team is going to need them to dominate if they plan to make it out of the first round. Can't rely on depth scoring forever. |

Perhaps this is the reason for the refs calling the game as they did........just trying to get out of town unscathed. |

here is one of the worst asshat plays of the night by paryako...these cross checks have to be called more frequently; yeah he got a major and should be suspended; but if you are going to call hooks and slashes when the stick touches a players hands then you gotta do away with using your stick as a weapon parallel to the ice with both hands...
there was another ultra cheap shot delivered on backus by ritchie...no penalty...that guy is really a dirtbab

And this is the crux of what's wrong with our team this season.
Inconsistency.
I'm right there with you. Zero confidence that tonight's level of play can be sustained. |

I'm really liking the new lines.
One minor change I would make would be bringing Hayden back to play on the "4th" line with Anisimov and Wingles(Hayden and Wingles played very well together on our 4th line earlier this season).
Move Hartman back to Right Wing with Kampf and Hinostroza.
Keep the top 2 lines the same. |

Mackinnon shoulder injury and did not return. Absolutely brutal. Kid was having an MVP season and is an electric playmaker. Hope it's not serious. |

Duclair, Hinostroza, Kampf, Schmaltz, Saad, Debrincat all speedy forwards. I still think Forsling should be playing with Seabrook or Murphy over Gustafson who is an adventure defensively. Gustafson makes some nice plays with the puck but you hold your breath in his own zone or defending in transition. |

Say that somehow we are right there last couple games of the season a couple points out of a playoff final spot. What teams might you guess are fighting tooth and nail for that final berth, or even fallen out of contention?
Colorado. Probably. But beware their goaltending.
WHOM ELSE? |

The tooth and nail fight for a playoff spot is already on.
Barring key injuries and some unexpected change in form to how teams have been playing, the top 3 in the Central is already decided, leaving the Hawks grasping for a wild card spot or starting golf season early.
Central - Wpg, St.L and Nashville
Pacific - Vegas is in. I predict Anaheim and LA finish 2 and 3.
That leaves SJ, Calgary, Minny, Dallas, Colorado and Chicago for 2 spots.
When the Hawks play like they did last night and some earlier season games (like against Winnipeg, NYR and Pittsburgh), they are a playoff team. Most nights they don't play that way and generally they stink on home ice. Tough hill to climb since their record within the Central is poor and there are going to be many 3 point games.
I predict Minny gets one spot based on their defence group and goaltending.
I'm eliminating Colorado, they will start to fade.
That leaves one spot for Dallas, SJ, Calgary and Chicago.
Yikes, that's 3 pretty decent teams going home early.

The continued USHL shoutouts and pumping the tires of this incredible prospect pool. If you think Hartman's a hit at this point, we arent watching the same player. Schmaltz is young and has the skill to play the role he does now. Pleased with Schmaltz, would like to see more consistency. How can anyone here mention TT, when he was here everyone was on his ass. How about on D? anyone of mention? I am shocked we havent seen Snuggerud up yet. He was a dynamic d-man in college.
Kevin Hayes.....who they failed to retain? Mismanaged in that regard. - nickmo2699
LOL! Who's pumping tires? Just stating facts which is without a top 15 pick this group's managed to find NHL talent in the first round other than the pick they spent on MacNeil.
Hartman's a 2nd year player, playing in the NHL. Kind of early to be labelling him a bust. Yes, there were a lot of people here constantly harping on TT, but I wasn't one of them...and honestly what does that have to do with anything, he is playing in the NHL, which goes back to your original point.
Short of holding a gun to Hayes' head and forcing him to sign a contract I'm not sure how the situation was mismanaged. |

Hey Enzo...agree on Forsling. One would assume we're in showcase mode right now with some of the young dmen based on all of the lineup rotation as of late as well as the Rockford shuttle. The question is what are you trading for future assets or depth this season...?
The forwards you list - lot of speed, but what about adding another banger type like a Maroon who I mentioned last night along with the fact that the Hawks need to score more. It'll be interesting to see what happens here if they can string a few wins together. |
