To sum it up instead of reading. Skipping the "prospect" for Guds and Vanek might net the team a 2nd instead. If this was Van's trade deadline. I would actually be extremely happy.

I agree. He just needs the experience to put it together. His offence has been hurt this year with no PP time. He is only a -3 right now. Was -25 and -19 last two seasons. I think he has made some strides in some parts of his game but has hurt other parts.

Is it analytics or is it teams have finally clued in that you have to have good scouting and continual building.
It is no secret that teams like Canadiens of 70s, Islanders, Oilers of 80s, etc focused very heavily on the draft. I doubt they used much of the modern day analytics back then.

I have no problem drafting Bouchard. He seems like a solid all around kid. You need those type also. Finish bottom three and it is very close to a first round pick

JB needs to meet or exceed what he accomplished at last years draft to keep his job imo.

I don't think the measure of team success in the last 3rd of the season will work out too well for him.
