It cost us a shot at this kid, no guarantee we would have picked him.
But Ya, he would be nice to have. - Reubenkincade
I thought I would join in with the "hindsight" group for a while. Trading for DP is now going to cost Van another quality NHL player 4 years from now. |

I was excited. I'm pretty bored. Wife's at work. Crazy snow storm. Kid's watching her own movie.
Anyways Gaudette with 2 goals and an assist tonight. Game ended 4-4. I really dislike the no shoot out and the 5v5 overtime. Time for change NCAA. - manvanfan

Kid could be producing in the NHL right now imo. He doesnโt need time in Utica - CanuckDon

How about this , after 4 years Benning has brought in Boeser and Stecher long term and no one else. |

So there is somebody out there.๐
It is not so much the amount here yet, it is what we have on the ice now trying to get us out of the poopshow that is so discouraging.
I have some patience...although it is getting stretched pretty thin. |

Mass injuries can cause that perspective.
Besides this is a rebuild season while prospects develop & we draft more. Add the TDL to that as well. |

After the 2012 season, when they should have started rรจbuilding, I was expecting this to be a 7-8 year process.
We had nothing in the cupboards back then and some awful hard to deal with contract situations. The re-signing of a couple of aging players 4 seasons ago didn't help matters either.
Not defending Benning, as I couldn't care less if he is replaced, just saying when you start with a mess it takes time to reorganize and I believe every GM should be given 6 years to see the fruits of their labour. |

Drinking wine and looking at some drafts....
I know this is pointless...BUT
Imagine
2014 = larkin / pasternak instead of virtanen / mcann
2015 = we more than happy
2016 = to soon to tell but would love to have keller!!

Let's debate.....
I won't repost the little TSN video (it's up there somewhere) Erik Gudbranson not being an upgrade over Roman Polak.
Free Agents. I like Grabner BTW. 19 ES goals. This team could desperately use that.
How much Markus Granlund would fetch at the TDL.
You can start with one of those options.
My bacon and eggs are already cooked. |

It's only 6:35am, cooking now
I would say Gudbranson is more of an upgrade on Polak because he has the potential to bring a much more physical game, he doesn't usually, but the potential is there.
Grabner, ya I have no issues there, speed, the game is exciting when you've got more speed and finish.
Grandlund, I like him as a bottom six guy, probably worth a third if someone likes what he can do? |

I think Gudbranson could be an upgrade but with all the injuries. I feel the uncertainty of his contract is hurting his play. If he would sign a contract for a normal price not in the $5 AAV range. He has 3 points on the season. Polak at least has 6 in the same amount of games.
Since we aren't debating Grabner. Pencil him into the 3rd line next season 2 year contract at 3.35 AAV. Only 30 years old, seeing the impact that Vanek is having on the kids. (no need for either Sedin then)
Granlund to Boston for Sean Kuraly, 4th. |

I've compared Gudbranson to Radko Gudas before, with a little less douchiness. Personally I'd rather trade him for a second and third round pick and be done with him, I always hated that trade....always!
I'd like them to trade Sutter and open up that third line center spot for Gaudette, sign a free agent center for the second line and continue developing the kids. |

If Gudas is going to sign a 3.35 for 4 years. Then Gudbranson doesn't deserve 5.
6 years at 3.5 I would re-sign Guds. He is physical and the team is and would still miss that. Maybe that ease's him and he plays a bit better knowing he has some security.
A second and a third or maybe 2- seconds being TDL for Guds is a reasonable return.
If they don't re-sign Henrik then a spot is open already for Gaudette or Pettersson.
After watching a period and a half of the Northeastern game last night. Gaudette did a lot of his own leg work but he also got better when he had Sikura help him out. Gaudette being the goal scorer and Sikura the play maker. Got me thinking that maybe Gaudette is the center and EP starts on the RW until he matures and grows a bit. Van doesn't really have that playmaker right now to help out Gaudette. |
