That's just so easy let me go look at all these studs in the NHL that we drafted after 5

Don't see any

This is not the NFL the top 3 picks are are supposed franchise players two first line players after that 4-5 (could be) wildcards

We need another Elite player like Jack and you're only going to get that if you suck and win the lottery

we understand what you preaching Gerbs .
This will be the last season I will acept it . Time to groom what we have and go from there. Draft picks still take a year or 3 to be productive . unless you getting a Jack or Mcdavid . Tired of waiting and hoping for the chosen one . (how are the oil doing with all those #1 pics AND Mcdavid ?

Silky mitts

He screams winger, I really don’t see him as 2C

Lehner for Pysyk is getting legs

- washedup20

He played center last night
Tough to say where he projects
I think it would be smart to either start him on the wing, or at 3C
Even Matthews started on the 3rd line to take pressure off him & get him some favorable matchups

The Oilers are going to be a contender next year They just need a little adjustments and obviously a new general manager

So I’m thinking of doing some research on NHL player production that will take me some time to fit into my schedule.
One aspect is to gain an understanding of what the populist definition of the following classification of players
...so help me out by providing your definition of the following categories...it may be useful to think of some in percentage or absolute numbers as appropriate for the class or group of classes(I.e. Elite is top 17% of all forwards, or 10% of 1 line forwards)

-Generational
-Elite
-Very Good
-Good

Thoughts? The more the better!

- IonSabres

Honestly? Don't use generational. It means once in a generation. And there's no one that fits that.

Use, I don't know "cream of the crop" or something in that vein.

Generational IMO would be Hasek
Elite would be Perreault, Lafontaine, Mogilny
Very good would be Briere, Satan, Vanek, Soupy, Miller
Good would be JP, Zhitnik, Risto (now, could move up), Okopso, Max etc

IMO guys like Larsson, Lehner, Bogo, etc do not belong in a chart with these terms

my 2 cents

- homiedclown

My question would be do they have to sustain it for any length of time? Satan was downright dominant for a 3, 4 year stretch. Same with Vanek. Whereas Miller only had one phenomenal season and many above average ones.

oh you clever fellow

I can't believe Saros became the best player in the deal. Darcy in a nutshell. Maximize value, then take it and poop all over it by drafting safe.

I am wondering if this is a non football injury with Wood and they get cap relief?

Lehner still stinks

- homiedclown

Doesn't sound like it. Sounds like deterioration from a lifetime of football.

I doubt they get relief. I think the "sustained a serious injury" was a bad choice of words. It was more like "discovered a serious injury".

We'll find out more on Monday.

He’s worse than Bergevin or Murray.

How you (frank) that team of talent up is beyond me

He pretty much did a bunch of Murray type moves, like signing Lucic, Hall for Larsson, trading Eberle for...wow, that's more than enough to be fired.

Barzal, Stephens, Eberle, Hall

For

Larsson, Strome, Reinhart and signing Lucic

Imagine that top 9 for a second.

What high #1s do they have left?
RNH & Draisaitl?

Anyways... the argument is:
What’s better for the Sabres going forward?

-finishing with a top3 pick this year
or
-winning 6/7 more games and finishing with something like the 6th pick

Even though u can hit on a guy picked 6th
(or 46th, or 106th, etc)...

I don’t think winning those extra 6 games does anything to “change the culture”

So I’d rather have the guy i think can really help us right away,
instead of a guy i think can help us a few years from now

I keep forgetting about Barzal.

Holy hell that team would be unreal.

Barzal
Hall
Eberle

Caveat this opinion with I know, I know: O'Reilly, Reinhart, and Okposo are nothing special, but if Buffalo can add Mittlestadt and one of Zadina or Svechnikov, the top 6 would be in very good shape, no?
