I'd be surprised if he doesnt go top 10 after this game

Dobson and Merkley aren't even close to Bouchard.

Bouchard gets an insane number of shots on net and has such a solid all round game that I wouldn't be surprised if he rises to top 5

I guess you and I approach the situation differently. Over the last two seasons I was more concerned about his baggage than I am now. Two seasons ago, the Canucks would of had to trade for him. I also don't like that.

Ya I agree trading for him wouldn't of been ideal, but I would of taken him over the other guys we acquired in that time and his value was also at a low compared to now.

Now is not a good time for nucks to be adding top UFA's IMO.

I think Bouchard is the 3rd best dman in this draft by now.

He could even go before Boqvist at this point. The only player I dont want in the top 6 or 7 is Hughes. You can draft smaller players in later rounds and its not like there has been many 5'8 160 pound players that have been dominant defensemen over the years.

Next season. There are signs this team is trending upward at the same time as circumstances are reigning in a top 6 pick again probably. Best of both worlds... next season I expect the team to trend a little more upward and the team will naturally compete more. I think next season is right for phase two of the rebuild. A good draft will really stock the cupboards this summer and JB hasn't had a problem finding talent late in the 1st round either so I expect him to find players even if we draft mid round in 2019 and beyond(if JB is here).

I think the bit of muscle Kane provides in the top 6 as we integrate kids into the line up is needed as well. Specially if Gudbranson is moved.

Merkley hasn't impressed me much at all. Agree on Bouchard looking great.

With us needing three top 4 defense for the future I think that is great deal to make. Between our 1st and if we get the leafs 1st we could rebuild the future defense in a few months. Now obviously these players would be years away but at least it would give us basically a future top 4, top 2 goalies and top 9 forwards.

Then we would still have our 2nd and 3rd, plus whatever we get for Gud and Vanek should be about a 2nd or 3rd.

I would be very happy if that was the case.
