If Kane wants to play in Vancouver, then the Canucks can just sign him this summer. If they miss the boat on July 1st so be it. This is the only way I'm interested in seeing Kane show up. He's only 26 right now, isnt a wussy, can score and play physical. His red flag has been getting smaller and smaller in my eyes.
You don't build a team around Kane. Why the (frank) would the Canucks trade players they are going to build the team around for a UFA? JB won't do something like that unless the order comes from ownership and I doubt FA is in that frame of mind any more regardless of the non stop speculation that is a constant one way or the other.

Lonely lol ....yeah I don’t think I would be a lonely billionaire ...find some hobbies ...buy a golf course and invite your buddies to hit the links all day ...buy a bar and everyone will be your friend ... purchase a nhl team and then meddle with how management goes about things and then go on HB to see what everyone thinks of you ....so many options - Redmile247
I've thought about this. Wonder if owner/management types would even bother. |

I wouldn't waste too much time thinking about it. If he plays here it's as a free agent. That's the only logical way it happens. Any other maneuver would be stupid.
Then again... |

He's getting more and more top 10 projections. Might be a good fit depending where we are picking.

it's like when don cherry says he'll take some random bottom 6 canadian forward over ovechkin. Or when he said he'd take "Bieska" on the Canadian olympic team |

It's going to be a joke league with joke players. If Vince McMahon wasn't involved, I'd be less worried, but if Aquaman is a meddling owner... VKM makes him look hands off by comparison - DariusKnight

I'd be surprised if he doesnt go top 10 after this game
Apparently 25 GM's are at this game.
Dobson and Merkley aren't even close to Bouchard. |

But would you be okay committing 6 years and a NTC to a guy with his baggage?
I doubt any team can land him without those terms.
Kane would likely be fun to have on the team for a few years and I was down with acquiring him when he still had a couple years on his contract but I have a feeling everyone would sour on him pretty quick.

The most appealing thing about him is that he's such a young UFA. The biggest issue with signing UFA's to 6 year deals is when they're in their late 20's or early 30's.
The NTC is what would be a concern for me. If it's limited then I'd be more open to signing him. The other issue on the ice is that he sucks on the PP. |

Lots of players can excel in the PP and be poopty 5v5. I don't think it's really an issue with Kane. I don't think he has a good enough track record offensively to commit the term and dollars he will command. Especially for where the team is right now.
That said it can't be worse than. The Eriksson contract.

If I'm paying 6M+ for a winger, I want a guy who's effective at 5v5 and the PP. His entire production is based on pure volume shooting, that's why he produces while frustrating Sabres fans at the same time. He takes a lot of low quality shots, probably why he's garbage on the PP as well.
He'd be way better than Eriksson, he's younger and has speed/physicality to at least cause some havoc even when not scoring.
Plus if you add Kane, you're really starting to load up on forwards who struggle to create plays for linemates. Especially if the Sedins are gone. Playmaking is going to be a huge issue.
The exciting thing for GM's is that you add a 20-30 goal powerforward winger in his prime without giving up anything except cap space. A pretty nice piece to add without having to give up any asset. |

I guess you and I approach the situation differently. Over the last two seasons I was more concerned about his baggage than I am now. Two seasons ago, the Canucks would of had to trade for him. I also don't like that.
