Did you just find an article from 2005? about a draft in 2000? 18 years ago?
I'm not a Button fan. I just see what Button is saying.
Wait a second, are you saying a professional scout is not very good? - manvanfan
I'm sayign Craig Button as GM drafted some of the worst picks in the history of the NHL as a GM. So yes, I'm saying some scouts aren't very good. But when you get a panel of scouts together, who collectively make decisions on who is the best, I trust that. |

So Bob's list.
Didn't Button have JV in the second round in his mock draft? I remember that being mentioned. Yeah he didn't have JV in the first round but had Brayden Point at 17. There are 210 picks, I think some get some picks right and others gets different ones. It's hard. |

If your picking a player with "size" over Boqvist, I would prefer someone who uses that size. Dobson over Bouchard. - manvanfan
Bouchard is more offensive it appears and that's what we need most. I like Dobson as well. |

It's very hard. People forget pretty quickly that Button was in large part responsible for building that Flames club that went to the 2004 cup final and were screwed by Bettman. So the guy can't be a complete idiot. |

I'm not trying to simplify it, I agree it's very difficult. But his draft record as a GM speak for itself, none of his picks played much hockey. |

He wasn't though, He inherited all of it. Here's a list of all of his trades, which player make him a "large part"? http://www.nhltradetracke...st_by_GM/Craig_Button/164 |

I did say "post draft rankings". The guy acknowledged that Vilardi is slow and hasnt played much this year but still believes in his skill/vision to come through. He frequently mentioned that some players are just his guys and will sink or swim supporting them. I think he'll be wrong to have Vilardi that high, but I dont think his goalie rankings were wrong.
For every list that Pronman, Bob Mac, Button, ISS, etc. produce, there will be players over ranked and under ranked - WhiteLie
All those lists don't matter, it's the Canuck's list that matters. |

Personally it's pretty neck and neck. Dobson is slightly younger. Bouchard slightly higher PPG. Dobson plays more physical. Bouchard higher hockey IQ. Skating pretty equal.
I think I like Dobson just a bit more because of OJ out of London. Slightly worried
Still think OJ is going to be an NHL regular but a slight worry. |

No - that is his current ranking. He has Pettersson at 10 and Demko as the fith best goalie as of 2 weeks ago. He is a biased hack with no credibitliy.
Edit: you did say pre or post. He is still trash! - CanuckDon
I can buy being upset with his ranking of Petersson, but it's hard to realistically put Demko ahead of those goalies other than Hart. And what Hart is doing is pretty incredible. |

It's a meta-list. He makes judgement calls in certain area's. For example, Merkely is way down on the central scouting list. Bottom-line though is that Bob's list usually ends up being one of the better if not the best every year. - neem55
Bob's lists end up being very close to the actual order of picks but I wouldn't say it is best at evaluating which prospects are best.
I can't remember who right now did a look back at the main ranking sites and showed that the CSS rankings were the most effective. Showing them out perform every team's drafting record over a 5 year period iirc. |

The more important thing is how many teams to pass in each direction, I.e. which is the easier/more likely path? |

I agree with you, the EP ranking is a joke imo, but the Demko one is at least reasonable. Just depends on how you view starting in the KHL vs AHL.

That’s even worse lol
5 teams between the Canucks and the last wildcard
Only the coyotes are lower in the standings in the west |
