I know we laugh at the Coyotes but they have set themselves up nicely for the next few years, They should be kept on the radar. They will have 31 mil in cap space to sign 8 players.

They told their old guy Doan no thanks and now sit dead last with the best shot at Dahlin and Boqvist . The worst they will do is pick 4 th and first most rounds after that.

They have OEL Goligoski Hammer Demers Chychryn on the back .

The front Domi Keller and Stephan .

No long term contracts from anyone else and no NTC from anyone other than the list above.

Right now they might seem like dumbasses but pick up Dahlin and go shopping with 32 mil for a few players and things could change quickly .

Plus they have a few young guys in the minors with hope

The real question is will the Sedins go after Lewis when required?
- LordHumungous

That is definitely the question. With them taking roster spots and cap space. Can we afford to get someone with balls?

The Coyotes suck. The Coyotes will always suck.
They've had over 15 years to be anything but a cellar dweller and they fail year after year.
The Coyotes are garbage.

Choosing to emulate the Coyotes is like choosing to wear old underwear with bacon strips, it's just a bad decision.

And, they set themselves up to make more tdl and offseason moves again this year. I don't think they'll go boquist, I think they'll continue to pick BPA as they have. Chychrun was a steal after falling, strome is developing nicely. Chycka has done well, Nucker and I were talking about this the other day.

That Virtanen drop pass is even worse the 2nd time around.

He's trying to stay onside while almost falling over, while also trying to dp a line change and does a drop pass to no one even remotely close to the puck.

- classic321

If anyone was doubting whether he might benefit from more time in Utica, that game and that play should be a pretty good indicator.

I'll believe it when it happens. Chayka has turned them into a moneyball team(or closest you can get in hockey) we will see how that turns out down the road.

Just watched the Top prospects game. Zadina and Svechnikov were definitely the best forwards for each team.

If Van could pick up another late 2nd or with 3rd. Cole Fonstad would be a decent pick up.

Bouchard's stretch passes Certainly starting to set himself apart from the 2nd tier of D. (anyone behind Dahlin and Boqvist)

Not really. He turned them into a team he knew would lose for a year or two so he could bank some high picks and take a shot at some of the huge free-agents. I agree he relies on statistics probably more than most GM's, because he's not a dinosaur and knows that you should look a lit of ways of evaluating talent. Moneyball is a stretch though. I expect Hjarmalsson to get a nice return this TDL and for them to continue to grow. They are doing a much better job at the developmental level not rushing guys IMO.

Dahlin sure looks good in the blue and green colors. Canucks never in 48 years to have the 1OA. After 2 years of dropping 3 spots. VAN IS DUE!

Having 30m in Cap space only to spend to the floor... Guarantee they go after Luongo and Webber when they get their career ending injuries.

I have a little more faith in the Coyotes' new ownership's willingness to spend to be competitive. That being said, I think Chayka has learned from Pegula's spending spree in Buffalo and will approach this at a more appropriate pace. I think it will take them a while to shed their previous regime's reputation but I think they are ready to actually behave like a real NHL franchise (if only long enough to secure a new facility)

I can't argue there, no way to tell if they will ever spend to the cap. I'm just saying I like the boldness of having picked three 1st rounders, a second and 4 3rd rounders while also getting a younger roster overhaul in place over two years. I don't think he expected to win, I think he expected to tank but set the team up for long-term success.

Attendance sucks, 3rd worst in NHL at home, and I think those numbers are generous. I don't think a new facility will help them in that market.

I bought a ticket for a Canucks game for $10 and sat 3 rows up from the ice on the blue line.

Sorry not even the cheap beer will help them, despite what Bettman says.

I dont think that matters to the owners. They get a cut of revenue sharing to offset NHL expenses, in exchange they will get a new facility with 324 available nights to book anything else and more than likely the ability to develop additional land around the arena (see Edmonton's new downtown and the 3 towers popping up around our Roger's arena). Owners are all about making money and NHL franchises are not the best at it, but they are the best at getting entertainment facilities and development approvals though

Bob McKenzie has Penticton's JONNY TYCHONICK at #38, certainly fills a need for VAN and may be there in the second round.

Then it really doesn't matter what kind of product you put on the ice? Let them stay at the bottom of the standings until the cows come home? It would be a shame if Rasmus Dahlin went to that dumpster fire.

You seem to like this player very much. This is not the first time you have mentioned him. Would you compare him to Dante Fabbro?

Do you watch The Bee's play?

I don't know anything about him, that's why i'm asking.

Interesting Boquist is not in Bob Mackenzie's top 5 and not considered in the race for second pick by him at all. The more I look, the more I like the top5. Hoping we go a game or two under .500 to end the year.

Fabbro is a different kind of player, Tychonick is very good at rushing and distributing the puck. Exciting to watch, he always seems to be in the action.

The Vee's are a very well coached team that turn out nice offensive players like Jost. Hope we get him, he certainly fills a need.

I'm kind of hoping we get a second 1st rounder, there's a lot of d in this draft and no reason to pick one top5 unless it's Dahlin.
